I need to know. can you use the 48-52 for F1 brakes on the '37-'41 ford round back spindles? will the hubs bolt right up? I know I would have to grind the top of the spindles a little to clear the wheel cylnders. my main question is, has anybody done it/will it work. I have searched the board severals times but keep ending up with the '53-'53 for F100 stuff insted of the '48-'52 for F1 stuff. so, lemme hear what ya gotta say!

    thanks!

  2. Yes you can do it with a change of inner bearings and seals...

great! I think they will look right at home on my 27 t-bucket (I know, I know! most T-buckets are '23s but my project started out as a '23 and turned into a '27 long story)

does that imean the bearing numbers for the f100 conversion will work on the f1 also? if the f1 brakes work too, then why dont people use it more?

  7. yes , bearing and seals are the same. there is a SUPER tech on the swap by Deuce Roadster in the tech...all you will ever need to know

as for why people don't use the more , they are about 3/8" wider per side.,,,but i think guys ARE using them and just don't know and call them f-100's

    my `28 tudor has f-1 , my `36 has f-100

I also have the F1 brakes on my round spindles and they work great.

One bit of advice, dont buy the repop drums. They are junk. I have a set and after a day spent ona bubble balancer they work OK. I am looking to find a set of useable originals.

I got a tip from another hamb member that 80's bronco and f150's rear drums work of f-1 only fronts. Worked like a charm.
New aftermarket drums are all cast. Not composite steel center/ cast outer like the old ones. One of mine has a lot of weight. One doesn't have any. I hope both are in balance.

I followed this article on my A, they are only 'mocked-up' at this time, but it all went together fine.

Good to know about the 80's Bronco rear drums too.
