We JUST GOT the Grump's old ramp truck ( 1971 Chevy ) and need some pics from back in the day for lettering, etc, etc ...... Gonna' try to get it to be a mirror image of what it WAS !! Any Help ???
The truck and his race car were STOLEN back then and he never got the race car back but he did get the ramp truck so he made up a COOL REMOVABLE SHIFTER that he took out when he parked it so it wouldn't happen again......

A few pics culled from the Internet:

Grumpy Jenkins Ramp Truck - with \'69 Camaro.jpg
Grumpy Jenkins Ramp Truck - with \'70 Camaro.jpg
Grumpy Jenkins Ramp Truck - with Vega.jpg

There doesn't appear to have been any lettering (except for the "NOT FOR HIRE" on the lower part of the doors) ... just some jenkins comp decal.jpg decals on the doors and on the rear (next to the p***enger-side taillamps).

Looking at your photo, it appears that over the years the truck has been significantly modified (e.g, the deck has been lengthened, no more "tire rack", etc., etc.).

VERY COOL ....... anybody have/find any of the lettering, etc CLOSE UP ???

  7. Very Cool, looks like a new tail light panel was added over the back. I wonder what's behind it. Doesn't look like much lettering. Three big Jenkins Compe***ion stickers and a little something on the bottom of the doors.

Bed on yours looks longer behind the rear wheels. Yours has a sliding window too.
Does your VIN trace back to the Grump?
    Will make a cool hauler.

Dreamweaver is right, on the old photos the "break" where the deck angles down is right at the back edge of the wheelwell. It also doesn't have the recessed area in the center of the angled rear deck.

Dream.. it IS as far as we can tell ....... and it has a BRUTE tongue attached for pullin' somethin' HEAVY I'd ***ume ...... a previous owner probably changed the length and the tire carrier to fit his needs ..... that's why I'm lookin' for all the info out there on it ......

I can't tell in the old photos, but it either had the lower body line trim or a painted stripe.

  16. Man, the pictures of Grumpy's race car on the back of the car hauler just goes to show you how drag racing has changed. It used to be something that the average guy could do with a few small sponsors. Nowadays it's big business. Too bad, progress always seems to come at a price.

    Ahhhhh, the good old days..........E

I have seen that truck advertised a few times over the years. It has always been advertised as "Grumpy's old truck". It has stayed near the same place most of it's life.
I have no other info to add.

I'd have to agree with biscaynes. Not the same truck. Though it is a Chevy :)

Cool truck! I hope to see it around town.

  23. Both trucks have the Ford Big Truck / Pontiac Super Duty hood scoop on the side of the ramp box which is unique although I would think the red paint would be later than the white. Is there any trace of red paint anywhere?
