Hi guys! im dalton and i'm a 19 year old with a 61 tempest, (the 4 cylinder version). I'm always on here reading about the stuff you older folks do to the cars and it is awesome i must say. The creativity is real strong on this site and its something i will always enjoy reading. Now with everything being said i do need help. I have a completely rebuilt 383 stroker and a th400 trans to go with it, BUT. i know the trans axle on the tempest will shatter like gl*** if i try to connect that engine to that axle. SO my question is.. What axle should i use that will moderately replace the original trans axle i have without a whole lot of fabrication work.? I was think a 12 bolt from moser or strange.. I am a college student so time and money are not on my side. Thank for the help!
Welcome from Illinois. Don't know what particular rear end guys used but back in the day I have seen a couple of G***er style builds on the Tempest & Buick Skylark of that era around. The Tempest had a 421 and big ladder bars. Far from a sleeper.
Welcome to the HAMB. Sounds like a cool project. I can't answer your question, but you should post a new thread on the main forum, General Discussion where it will get more views.
