I recently realized that my mercury has the 4.75 5 bolt pattern on both front and the rear 9 in which I think are tri five chevy? along with the upper control arms, the car used to be a roundy round racer back in the day , is anyone familiar with this and what was used? I only realized this after my recently cleaned and painted 5 x 5.5 steelies did not go on doh! any help would be great
Not sure what your question really is, but the first thing you want to do is establish what bolt pattern you now have and go from there. Stock 49-51 Mercs had a 5 x 5 1/2 BP x 5 1/2 wide wheel. However, when you actually measure the width of the rim it is actually 6 1/2 inches. Here's the 1955 Chevy bolt pattern info. https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090323202014AAxaGAb Most 9 in. rears from ford cars have a 4 1/2 in. bolt pattern. If possible post photos of what you suspension looks like now. The car may have been subframed.
yeah no subframe....yet...trying to avoid that is the goal, I will get some wheels that fit and go on hopefully. I was more into finding out if this was a swap anyone is familiar with, it appears that the lower control arms are stock but the uppers are like a horseshoe style that I'm sure didn't come on it from birth. they bolt through a rod in the rear like gm stuff, just another surprise from this old car haha
