I have one of those 350's sbc that does NOT have the third hole for the starter. I'm changing from an auto 168 flexplate to a 153 pressure plate. Need a starter that is angled, but works on a 153 toothed flywheel. Who makes such a beast" The standard mini starter that is a straight bolt pattern has no hole at the back.

Aftermkt (Hitachi type) race style mini starters will work well. Two bolt patterns with an exposed drive pinion.

good luck...I think the staggered hole is kind of in the way of the starter motor, so it won't get close enough to the center of the block. If you are careful, you could drill the extra hole. Maybe we could give you dimensions?

I put one of the ministarters on my sbc400 and was surprised that I had to drill and tap one hole in the block !!!! This was with the engine in the car. Pain. But everthing works well.

I also drilled for small flywheel. Only way as no staggered bolt starter for this.

Ya'll have the corner on smarts, as I can not find such a beast. Looks like the drill is the only way.
