I have a 32 cowl and thought it would be a cool thing to make into a woodie ... I seem to remember there was a guy who built some cool custom woodies in the Midwest , Ohio seems to ring a bell... Anyone have information on crafty woody guys? Eventually I would like to build a frame and cowl/floor... But I am defiantly lacking wood skills, this will not be a stock type body, will be using p***enger cowl... Leads and photos appreciated thanks!
Doug Carr at the Wooden Carr can build you a body. He is in the LA area. The fellow in Ohio was called Cincinnati Wood Works as I recall. We have several real high end wood builders in the LA area but the price is definitely not for the shallow pocket book. Mike Nickels in MI, builds a quality body also. We have used his wood and it is nice. Here are some photos. Dan Fink built this one a few years back and it was an instant hit. All hand formed sub structure. Here is another example of a custom woody. Still another example for your consideration.

Thanks ...This is one of two that really trip my trigger, the other was a little more basic highboy running around SoCal in the late 90s ..
Subscribing to this thread as well. I'm in the process of beginning a custom woody build from a floor pan and cowl. It'll take a while and any insight is greatly appreciated. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1940-american-bantam-woody-convertible-build.944843/
The last I heard was that Chip from Cincinnati Woodworks has retired and closed the shop. Any one of the above suggestions can help. Another is Kline Family Workshop, excellent Woodie craftsman, located in PA.
Kirk Duquette (not 100% on the spelling), the Woodie Works in Cinci. Pretty sure Kirk built the yellow fendered car, but originally it was a Hiboy.
