I just got back from having dinner with BenD and his friend Robert after they delivered the 57 P/U. I tried to talk them into leaving TP's T coupe and the nice looking sporty that came along for the ride, but they wouldn't have any part of it.:D Now that the truck is here I need to get it wired and roadworthy and then figure out what direction it should take. Any ideas?

I forgot to give a written thanks to Ben for picking it up so quick, I figured it would be a couple of months before I even saw it in person, but instead it was a matter of days. THANKS Ben.

Mootz, I'm feeling your truck. What are the specs on your wheels and suspension? Are you running air or is that ride height?

I sold it a few months back, the wheels are 15x8 in the rear, 15x6 in the front. The truck was on air bags. It has now retired in Florida. Kinda miss it sometimes.

I know it's not the accepted method of modifying a truck on this board, but since it's a '57, I'll throw in a couple of pics. This is one that I helped my younger brother build a couple of years ago. Sat it on an '81 4x4 chassis that we shortened 8-1/2" and then painted it '87 Ferrari Red. Run-of-the-mill 350/350 combination, but it was reliable and a nice head-turner. It's gone now to make room for '57 Belair and '54 Cadillac projects, though.

Nik. flipm the axle on the back. Put a late model under it of course. Clip the frontend. You won't have to bag it that way. I did a 55 cameo that way. You could stand a pack of cigarettes under the fender edge. It drove great. Ben had to go see momma, then to my house. TP

The Volare clip is an easy and neat way to go . just adjust the torsion bars till it sits at the exact height you want.

Chaz, those work good also. Looks like you flipped your axle. Nik, remember to slide your front tires forward as you lower it or the wheels end up too far back in the fender well. TP

TP, the 57 already has a Camaro sub under it, but I want it to go lower than this. I talked to pOrk about air ride, so that might be the route I take with it. I've done spindles and coils before, but this air ride stuff sounds pretty slick. The neighbor came over and looked at and asked what I wanted something like this for. I don't "get" people who don't get it.

Well if I had a truck like that, I'd put it in blue suede with gloss white grill, bumpers, and headlight rings. Gloss white interior, with a black and white tuck job on the bench. Wide whites, and full caps, definately lower, but that's just my opinion. I also think it would look bitchin' with 4 2's and no hood, wink wink. Anyway, I hope it was everything you expected, and that you're happy with it, have fun with it.
