As a Viet Nam Veteran (USMC) I appreciate the thanks that is expressed for our service. More than we received when we got home from Nam. I also appreciate the service of those who served with me. It only makes my heart sad to think of all those who made the supreme sacrifice for the freedom we now experience. Semper Fi my brothers in arms.

Viet Nam era Air Force. Yeah, the difference in treatment between then and now is amazing.

My thought on the difference in treatment of recent Veterans is partly due to Vietnam Veterans making sure that recent Veterans are honored for their service.

Thanks for your service. I attended (U.S. Air Force 1964-68), but those of you who fought in Viet Nam, SERVED.

39 guy I agree with you. I live in a army town. Often I see old men like us paying for tabs in cafes and bars for the young vets/troops. as for myself active 65 to 69... SEA last part 66 all of 1967 first quarter of 68.. Have my DD 214 and DD 256 hanging on the wall in my office.

K9racer, Paying a tab is a nice way of saying Thank You! We do not often see people in uniform in our town but when one is noticed, paying all or part of their bill is a nice way to acknowledge their service to our country.

I recall my parents saying back in WWII if you were in uniform people would stop and offer rides, pay your meal tab or just about anything they could do to help you. Far cry from when I came back.
