Found a grill shell and insert for a 1933 dodge today at an auction, and as i was cleaning it up, i noticed it is stamped in big letters on the bottom of the grill, "made in the u.s.a." it was at one time chrome and looks to be original. The guy who i got it from, says it was original, but i wouldnt imagine that back in 33, they would of screwed up this beautiful grill shell by stamping this right on the bottom of the grill. Any thoughts? Was anyone repopping these grills in the past? Any help appreciated. Thanks
It could have been off an "export" car. Back then almost everything was made in the USA, especially automotive stuff and we didn't brag about it unless it was leaving our boarders.
correct.... all my 1933 Dodge Grill Shells have "MADE IN USA" stamped into them also, and they have all lived in Australia since 1933.....
I have over 10 of these grill shells (NFS) all are factory stamped made in USA, these were used on 1933 Dodge cars all 1933 1934 and although they changed the cabs in mid 1935 they used this grill on all 35 pickups.
A freind of mine her in oz has a34 plymouth 3 windo aussie delivery made in usa in grille same as my 33 dodge roadrter
Strangely enough, my two 1931 Dodge shells are different. One says, "MADE IN USA" and the other does not. I have only seen one for 1931 that says that and it is the one I have. The one on the car does not have it.
