As of yesterday, the Books A Million store here in Madison, Tn, still didn't have the new issue. They have about a dozen copies of the previous edition, but ... darn it ! .. I want the new Moonlighter edition.

The picture that was taken of the moonlighter at the top of Greer Dragway sums it up. It blends the rebirth of this legendary g***er with a rustic presence of the old days. Pure nostalgia.

Just picked up my copy, and wow.I am just blown away by everyone involved.
It's more than just a car magazine,it pays tribute to the cars, the era,and most importantly the people who worked so hard at 9 to 5 jobs,s****ed and saved to pay the mortgage and buy race car parts at the same time, raise a family, etc.
It's like a biography of the hot rodders.

My hat is off to everyone involved for paying such a rich and well deserved tribute to Gene,Ruth,Melvin, and Quain, who's selfless effort, and seemingly limitless energy made this all possible.
Quain, your heart must be as big as that old Hi Riser Gene built for the Moonlighter, cause you are never too busy to answer a question, help someone in need,or just provide a few friendly words of encouragement.

    God bless you.

    Scott

For those of you that were wondering here is a picture of the Willys that was owned by Robert "Mr.Plymouth" Nance and driven by Red Stanley. It mentions this car in the magazine article as destroyed in a racing accident but the driver wasn't hurt. IMAG0144.jpg

This isn't just a show car. He races it all the time, and at 82 years young is still competing against people 1/4 his age.
I got to speak to him and his wife Ruth at the G***er Finals at Greer Dragway last week, and they're just nice folks.
