OK... im getting impatient, and i want a car with ease of replacement parts when i am out and about... so i decided to clip the car and have it over with anyone have suggestions what to use for a donor car? i'd like to use the engine, trans, driveshaft as well as the frame to keep costs down... and i'd also like to stick with ford and not use a GM clip anyone? tankee kindly T
Buy a V8 Granada/Monarch & use the engine, trans, rear & front spindles with disc brakes on your 54 frame & you'll be golden. You can still usually find good running Granadas cheap. You don't care about the body condition. Thats what I'd do. Billy
thought about that route also.,,, but i want the power steering as well... why not yaknow? sides, then im still running the 54 stock balljoints, tie rods, etc etc... decisions
You could always do what shoebox said and then go buy a Cavalier rack and pinion and fab that up for the steering. That is what a lot of the kits are using for our '54s. They have them new on Ebay for under $100. I am sure it would just involve some bracket work and tie rod stuff. You could get the pump off any 302 at the junkyard. This is just what I plan on doing. The 302 and c-6 are already rebuilt just ready to do the rest. Good luck PM me if you come up with any better ideas.
Mid to late 80's Thunderbird TurboCoupe... real close to being exactly the right width and everything from what I was told Cougars work too
