I'm building a 1932 Ford Victoria, and need to find a wood kit to replace the rotten wood in the top. I did a search of the HAMB and on Google before I posted this thread, but came up blank. Does anyone know where I can get a wood kit for my Victoria?
First I have to say WOW nice looking Vicky and have you checked http://www.woodncarr.net or LaBonne barron ?
It's my understanding that WoodArt is basically out of business ... the guy who owned it ... SOLD IT ... ( he was pretty sick ) and the new guy cannot turn out the work. I read this on FordBarn ... so this is second hand info. WoodArt ... was the BEST ... and may still be ... here is the link http://www.fordwoodart.com/
Last time I heard no body makes vicky wood . I helped a guy cut down a sedan set but it was pretty hairy. nothing like making a mistake on a high dollar wood set.
I fabbed some pieces for a Vicky, the owner had a couple of the tough parts that WoodArt had made, the rest was a lot of guesswork. Wish I had some originals to copy..........that and I took over the job where another guy left off. NOT a good way to do it. I do have pics here somewhere if you need them. I believe we used modified 3w door posts?
^^^^^^this is the fool that I took over from Welcome Tim. We carved the top bows from stock if I remember right. Rear window wood was scratch built?
I ordered two pairs of '32 garnish fillers from Ed (WoodArt) last Thursday (April 03), and they arrived on my doorstep Monday around noon. Although they were fairly simple pieces, the quality was good and the price was fair. .
I got a wood kit for my "32 Vicky from a guy in Clovis Ca. I think his card was "Model A Wood " or something like that. This was in 1980 or so.The wood needed a lot of fitting. If your old wood is good enough for patterns any good woodworker can duplicate it...L.B.
I used a combination of wood from WoodNCarr and Wood Art. Bought the parts each had available with out the long wait.
Thanks for all the replies. I spoke with a few of you directly and decided to get my top wood kit from Wood 'N Carr. WoodArt would have taken 6+ weeks, but Doug and Suzy Carr got it done in 2 days - faster than I could mail them a check. Thanks again, everyone; your help was invaluable.
