I used that shifter on my 1957 NAPCO with the 3737919 install kit. I have a 1960's 3 speed OD trans (7 bolt Saginaw). I needed to do some modification to the install components because of the OD. However, it fit. I used this kit so the shifter could be located as far forward as possible (clear the seat - which it didn't). I installed bucket seats to provide clearance for the shifter. Later I purchased another shift lever and cut and re-welded it so it the shifter curve was farther forward. Not exactly what you are doing, but the kit should work for you. You probably won't run in to the issues I did. It does shift very well. Its worth the investment. I'm sure others will be able to add more pertinent experience doing exactly what you are contemplating.
