Got some fenders with a project but have some questions on whether or not they are what I was told they were. I don't want to influence any thoughts so I won't tell you what I was told they were....lol... If you have any thoughts, let me know. Thanks in advance
Ya good guess (given my avatar...lol). I'm not convinced they are but I don't think they are Model A like most of the stuff I was told was 32 is either. I've searched all over the net but cant come up with anything definitive.
I hear ya. I was just given you some credit assuming you knew what I was getting at by laughing at myself for saying I wasn't telling you what I was told they were. Are there some tell tale things I can look for to identify them?
There's a Chevy truck fender of the same era that looks a lot like a '32 Ford pickup fender. Ford didn't produce a fender in the early '30's with a slotted mounting hole like your's show. There was a very early replacement fender company called Fostoria that did make nice replacement fenders for Fords, and they had slotted holes, but I don't think the pictured fender is a Fostoria.
did the 323-34 pickup (ford) fender have an offset to tuck up under the bed on the front of the fender? tim
I ruled model A out for a couple of reasons. First, with the truck, it's fenders have the same sort of lip that Tim mentioned and mine don't have any such. Second, in my opinion and just from pictures, the fenders I have seem to have a longer, flatter tail to them then the model A's but I could be wrong.
The Chev is an interesting path. One that I have gone down in my attempts to identify these. Do you know if they are known to have the slotted holes for mounting?
All in all guys, thanks for the info and feel free to keep it coming because I'm still looking for that 100% right answer if it exists....lol
So I found a pic of some early chev fenders and the have the sloted holes that alchemy mentioned so I think you're on the right track Paul.
yep, the early Chevs had the slotted holes and they are definitely not 31-32 Chev. I have worked on a '30 Chev. and they sure look the same.
Well ok Paul. Thanks for the info. Since I'm building a Ford, I guess I have some Chevy Fenders for sale!
