Art & Inspiration What cars have you owned....and never owned?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Gary Reynolds, Nov 18, 2014.

  1. Just because I'm curious, what cars have you owned , and what cars have you always wanted but never owned.? Let's limit it to HAMB friendly.
    I've owned:
    1/2 owner in 25$ 56 Chevy
    63 Rambler Cl***ic.
63 VW (and a fleet of other vw's)
    64 Valiant
    65 Dodge Coronet 440
    66 Plymouth Barracuda
    68 Rambler Mariner wagon.
    68 Buick Wildcat
    69 Malibu wagon
    I think I'm forgetting some.
***orted OT cars and new cars.
    Currently '10 Mustang GT

Cars I want to own:( all cars my Dad owned)
    50 Plymouth Special DeLuxe
    60 Fury wagon
    63 Catalina 389 wagon.
    68 Sport Satellite

The Pontiac is hard to find, the Sport Satellite IMPOSSIBLE to find. I've only seen one of each
in forty years of car shows. I have no garage, am unemployed (retired), not in the greatest shape.
I guess my wants will never be "haves".

I can't list all the cars I've had, suffice to say the list would be long.

I would like to have a few more Deuces,a 1950 Ford Business Coupe and another 63 1/2 Falcon Sprint. HRP

  3. I'm sure that's the case with lot's of HAMB'ers. I'm looking at the lurkers that never post, that think they aren't Hot Rod enough.COME ON GUYS PARTICIPATE!!
By the way, the 63 Rambler was indestructible, if any of you are thinking of building a Rambler 6, it was like a tank and rock combined. It ran no matter what!

I can't beat 350 but I figure somewhere over 200. Couple of favorites were my first car a 57 Ford Retractable, a 50 Mercury Coupe, 46 Plymouth Woodie, 66 GTO HT to name a few. If I could find another GTO for the same price I paid in 1972, that would be nice. I thought $1500 was a lot of dough for a 6 year old car. Also would like a 63-67 Corvette or a 62 Impala SS 409.

I have owned some great hamb cars, mostly cause I am old and they weren't that old at the time. A lot of rare ones I wish I had kept, like a 55 Ford Gl***top, 58&59 Vettes, 427 Fairlane, Model Ts and As and a Deuce. I have been able to obtain every kind of car I wanted even if I had to get the worn out version that needed everything to bring it back. Its the ones that I p***ed up on way back when that makes me kick myself now.
But I have always wanted a 39 Ford DeLuxe coupe and still haven't got one. Probably never will if not by now.

  13. I've had more than I ever wanted or needed. A car I've always wanted and never owned is a 62, 63, or a 1964 409" Impala Super Sport.
Need to have one before I leave this life.

At one point back in the day I either owned, bought or sold so many cars that the Connecticut DMV tried to make me get a dealers license. That being said one of the cars that I've always liked the best is one that I've never owned...a 56 Chevy BelAir hardtop. Maybe someday.

Too many, and never enough. I always thought the next one was better.....but reality always makes me know otherwise. Wish I had kept what I had thrown for the next. These are the interesting ones......some non-HAMB friendly. I won't list the non-interesting cars/trucks. Some just get used up....period. These are/were my fun ones.

    Gone cars
    71 442 455 4 spd
    57 Bel Air 2 Dr htp 327 T10 4 spd
68 SS 396 Camaro 38,000 orig miles orig paint loaded

    65 GTO 389 4 spd car/currently 428 HO TKO600 5 spd....with m***ive roof/fender damage(fukn' deer !!)

I dunno' what I would like to own.....we shall see. I've never had a particular affinity to anything....I just bought what came up when I could. If money was no object, I guess my list would grow.....but dad's don't always have that luxury. I've had enough cool stuff to be reasonably calm these days.

Currently collecting parts. Have a 394 Olds engine, 425 Buick engine, banjo rear end, and a few odd ends and pieces. Want to build an open car maybe......perhaps a sedan.....I have kids. I think a track nose Phaeton would be sweet.....of course with three pedals.

A muscle car guy, from a hot rod dad, and hot rod grandfather, I rarely thought different until I broke into this place. I like the screw together hot rod mentality.....and have wasted many a dollar paying for car stuff to get done......this place, of course... makes me want to walk differently. I understand what CAN be done. Here, one CAN do anything. Very empowering.

THANKS for the participation....this is something I normally would not do. There is nothing special about me. Just afflicted like everyone else.

can't remember or list them all, but still have the first one purchased for me by my Dad: '39 Ford Standard Tudor; wanted a '40 DeLuxe coupe & a '49-'51 Merc since I was about 10 & now own both (Merc's a '49); Have several HAMB friendly projects in waiting (chopped '36/'37 Chev P/U, '47 Buick fastback, etc; & wish I hadn't sold the '56 Chevy G***er/Drag car whatever you call it. If some of you WI guys have seen it, just wondering what happen to it. Blue & white, '57 fiberglas front, "SATISFACTION" painted on the side.
