I have a new Devilbiss starting line kit I used for the 1st time a couple weeks ago to paint inner fenders, hood hinges etc. The regulator didn't work at all. The gauge stayed on 100psi all the time. I went ahead and started using 1 of the guns and it worked fine for almost 10 minutes, the paint would spray when ever the air hose was hooked up, didn't even have to pull the trigger. I used the other gun and it worked fine until I got done. Does anybody know what I need to do to fix the other gun? If you hook up the air hose, it blows air, even if the trigger isn't pulled. Thanks

***uming you took the gun completely apart and cleaned it well before trying to use it, I'd take it apart again and see if anything might have contaminated it or something was re-***embled incorrectly.

needle is not seated against the tip, and the valve behind the trigger is not closing.

With the airline unhooked, take the air cap off. It's the first one on the front. With the gun pointing at you have a look to see if the hole in the centre of the nozzle is closed. The metering needle should be closing it off. If you can see a gap it means the metering needle either needs adjusting or it's not fitted correctly. By the way, do this with the pot disconnected as if there is a build up of pressure in the pot you will cop a face full. Think it as pointing a pistol at your face without ensuring the firing mechanism and magazine are removed.
Take the gun apart, remembering that sprayguns are like carbies. They don't appreciate rough treatment! When you re***emble, use a smear of Vasalene or petroleum jelly on the needle. A few squirts of straight thinner will get rid of any excess.
Try to get that regulator working correctly as it won't be helping matters, a bit like a carby that only needs 5psi having 20psi shoved through it.

You say its new, and the regulator and one gun doesn't work. That's 2 of the 3 components in the set, and it sounds like time to return it for something that does work. Spray guns can have problems that'll drive you nuts even if you're fully familiar with how they work. No need to start trying to fix one that doesn't work right from the get go.

Vaseline is a petroleum product. Thinners is a distilled petroleum product. You can use petrol as a thinner in an emergency. That's why I said to squirt a bit of straight thinner out of the gun to get rid of any excess. Fisheyes are caused by silicone which petrol is not.

I cleaned out the air p***age and it worked ok. The regulator will have to be replaced. I got the kit from Eastwood and the say I got it in April 2013, I say April 2014. Even tho I used it for the 1st time a couple weeks ago, they say it's out of warrenty. I didn't know anything about paint guns, but I'm learning. I plan to get a regulator from another place. Eastwood offered me10% off another new 1 and free shipping. Anything over $50.00 they offer free shipping anyway, so they really only offered 10% off, which ain't much. I called Eastwoods tech the same day I had problems, over 2 weeks and 7 calls later, they gave the last word. Eastwood is very expensive,I only buy stuff on sale. I used to only but stuff on sale, but not anymore.
