I have the opportunity to buy another COE locally. Not sure I have the energy to go through it all again. I've started contemplating a shorter and more modified version of my COE.

Short wheelbase, 3" Chop, lengthen the cab 3" behind the doors , lower fender bottom and running boards by 2", Front axle and wheel opening shifted forward, use a FWD V6 in the rear driving the back wheels, dual aluminum fuel tanks in place of running board splash aprons, maybe remove side cowl vents and install single vent on top, use the smooth 39 truck headlight stands, no front bumper, hidden hinges, glued in windshields, wipers below gl***...

This is the COE I would start with. Not sure what a fair purchase price is.

$ 100.00 could be waaay more than its worth, better ones out there...imo

  3. I'd start at $500and walk away at $550. It does have a usable grille and cowl. I think that's another Ford behind it, isn't it? what shape is it in? Maybe cross breed them and come up with something a little better to work with.
BTW, I'm tired just reading about the mods you want to do! LOL

I would get it and decide what to do with it later.

You are close enough to me that I would like to check out that green one with the telephone/utility bed/box on it. Actually there are a bunch there that I would like to see. I understand though if you don't want to give up your honey hole. :)

I think as far as another project...? If I recall you have been trying to find a place to live where you can have a better work space, that would probably be higher on the list to me, you will need a place to put it even if you have the energy to build another.

If I do buy it, then there is a good chance that I will sell off the windshield frames and do a glue in windshield. Sorry, keeping the doors. A 39 pickup door should be the same as the COE, except for hinges and their locations.

Obviously, you need to cut out for the fender... But the body lines and all else (except the hinge stuff) should line up and fit. If you need a door, then I think it is possible to cut and weld a pickup door to fit. I've had both doors next right next to each other and they appeared to be a close match. The door window frames in my COE are out of a pickup door so the gl*** opening is the same.

    All things are possible......

I have a 1938 pickup door. To make it work on my Coe I need to lengthen the bottom of the door a few inches, the cutout , patch the upper hinge hole, make my own upper and lower hinges, cut the new hinges in the door and make inner structure bracing, and finally close the hole from the cutout. It is doable, but a lot of work.

Fixing the door bottom is easy...heck most COE doors are rusted out anyway. I think that Northern offers some door repair panels. Can you use hidden hinges or modify the pickup hinges?

Im going to build a 1938 a Ford Cabover drivers door just to show you that it is very involved. Here is the rolled out door skin.
