Helmets: Best to use is a '37-41 with 1941 11 stamped advance mech.
karasmatic...remove the 2 bolts and start over completely. As an extra aid to get you to the right place start with a single bolt that is too long, through the hole in distrib and threaded into engine. Note engine has 3 holes, one of which is an unthreaded vac hole!
slide distributor toward engine on your long bolt, when it hits start rotating the distrib by its rotor. That should get the tab to drop into the drive slot, at which time the whole thing should just slide back smoothly ready to be bolted. Everything should go together easily with bolt holes aligned.

Bump. I need to remove the plug wires from a helmet cap, and I have been gently prying at the cover over the caps for a little while..before I break some 75 year old plastic, is there anything but the wires holding those covers down? And no, I'm not talking about the clamp that holds the cap on the distributor, those are separate covers over the wires.
