    Hey gang,
Hope this isn't too repe***ious, and I hope Markyac doesn't shoot me for this, but I'm gonna beg a bit...

We have an event coming up this weekend that is maybe a bit more important than you think. See, when we lost our beloved Speedworld last year, it put the whack on a seriously fun event, The Southwest Nostalgia Drags. After 7 or 8 years of fun, it looked like it might just become a casualty of the track shutdown **** storm of 2013.

After a false start earlier this year, Markyac has been able to negotiate one shot at this as a stand alone event at Wild Horse P*** Drag way, aka Fire Bird Drag way. As we get closer, I have been talking more with Markyac about it, and it sounds as if the old days of the event at Speed World might be back with this one... at least as close as we can get!

There is going to be a huge area for the show cars - look for me there as I have been asked to handle that end of things. There will be flag drop 1/8 mile drags for our street cruisers, Plus all the nostalgia cl***es on the flyer below for the real race cars! We'll do the mini bike thing, and just hang out and have a good time! This is gonna be as fun as it gets! But we gotta make it happen, or this is it.

I hate to say this, but if you left the spring version of this not entirely satisfied, TRY THIS ONE! the rough spots of that version have been polished. There is a new management team at the track that is willing to work with us this time, and not stack us up with four or five other, unrelated events. Everybody should be able to get as many runs as they want. This one is all us!!!

If you are in the state of Arizona, come on down! Tell a friend, heck tell two! If ya need me to tie a pork chop around my neck so the dogs will come and play, consider it done!!!

Join us please and lets continue this fun event into the future! scan0002.jpg

I've not been to this event, but I'm a regular at the Nostalgia Drags at Yello Belly here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and have an absolute blast!

I get a little burned out on the park-it-and-leave-it shows and can't resist the chance to "drag it out" with some of the big talkers and blowhard bench racers - at least the ones who have the courage to actually come to the line. It's brackets so everyone has an equal opportunity to win!

I wish I lived a little closer to Phoenix, Chip, 'cuz I'd be there for certain...to race, and to see you wearing that pork chop! Sounds like a well-rounded event with something for everybody! Good luck!

  4. Thanks, Chip...It's all true!

Yea, cool Chip, I had planed on attending anyway, but was a little disappointed with the spring event, here's hoping this one will be much better

I went, saw Chip out there with his H.A.M.B. board, signed it, raced, won some, lost some, made smoke, ate well, saw friends and generally had a great time.

Wow gang! What a day! So much cool stuff... We had a total of 56 cars in the show today. Tons of neat drag machinery rolling around, My neighbor and buddy Dave ***ton turned yet another driveshaft under his '51 Chevy g***er into a pretzel... Damn, what a day! Thank you to all that came out today!!!

My buddys Henry J... sadly, someone banged into the right rear corner of the J while sitting at our pit. No body saw anything, the person that bumped the J did not stop to fess up to it.

In the photo the J is not damaged

Oh ****! That ****s! I saw you pull in yesterday and meant to walk over and check out your Falcon. I'm a six-o-phile as well, with three Falcon's with sixers around my joint, and I recognized your car from the Ford six sight. as I was grabbing my camera, I looked up and you were pulling out... Next time though!

a few I took. Fun day....racing ended a little early for me. After I made my third timed run, when I picked up the time slip (11.22 at 131) the driver door would not stay shut. The latch broke. I decided not to race in the eliminations with the door baling wired shut. Maybe next time.

In the picture in the quote above, that's me in front of Dave's Chevy, tinkering with the carbs on my 409, 4sp, '63 Impala. The choke plate on the front carb was closing up and I blew out a rubber va*** plug on my second p***. A bit of wire and duct tape and all was sorted out. Those fixes shaved more than a full second of may ETs (17.6 @ 86mph down to 16.3 @ 94mph). The car has highway gears (2:70), so it's really slow of the line, but picks up good once it's moving. By the time I p***ed through the lights, I was only just about wound out in 3rd gear, never even got into 4th.

What a great day, out racing with freinds, *****in machinery at the show, in the pits and on the track.. These events are always a blast. Big thanks to Markyac w/ Southwest Nostalgia Drags for making this happen. I sure hope we can keep on doing this.

Damn Mike, the only shot of you I got was when you rolled past what seems like a half mile away and is blurry. You never stopped moving on Saturday, I swear. I intended to get more stuff up last night but it just didn't happen, I'll get it done tonight.

Jim - Sorry bout the door latch, looking at your timeslips leads me to think it's possible that you blew your own door off! Can't wait till this summer to start hammering away at my own ET. Bet you're happy with the times on your runs.

****!! How did I miss this one?? I must have been working too much last week and not focused on playing on the HAMB. I would have loved to bring the old field car '55 out to she what she will do in the quarter.
