I have a 302 out of a 79 ltd 2 I've got an edelbrock intake gt40p heads small pattern c6 with stage 2 shift kit am I on the right track?
Def cam that girl out make her rumble! If the motors out of car you could always step up the bore abit. But that can get pricey. There's a cruise-o-matic T-Q on ebay for $130 but I'm not sure if it's the same Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Thanks guys anymore good ideas I'm thinking of all kinds of options like turbo tunnel ram something but cheap is the big word keep the ideas coming thanks a bunch
C4s are stupid cheap and strong enough to beat on, check out the craigslist! Don't monkey around with the 2 speed either. The C6 isn't that bad. With the gt40ps be wary of valve springs. A e303 cam (.498 lift and only slightly aggressive duration numbers) is really pushing them as hard as they will go. And don't forget to change springs a lot of the time you have to have the heads machined! Car Craft did a write up on this recently, if I recall. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Thanks for the input my dad did a ford o magic tc into a c6 on his gasser because an old racer told him there like a stall and give more torque and I was planning on getting better valve springs also scored a Cummins intercooler and intake piping from work and have a friend who has a turbo he thinks its a 55mm but who knows
Might get a roller block from some demo guy up in Abilene and build one of those up but who knows its in the air for now
The early 80s motors had low compression, so pour the boost to it. Just know they also have awesomely crappy cast pistons. But who cares, it will be a riot to drive and a little bit of boost makes up for a lot. FYI, crane makes a nice flat tapper cam that is intended as a step-up for a Lightning. The cam is fairly small in the lift and duration numbers but provides excellent mid range power and low end torque. Should work well with boost and crappy valve springs.
