Me and my brother Mike finally broke ground today on Mike Jrs model a roadster build. He's been collecting parts for some time now and today was the day we started slicing and dicing. This is my brothers first vintage hot rod build so were taking things one step at a time. We started with a nice stock model a frame, an open drive banjo which mike disassembled and installed passenger car bells and axles... Reversed. A nice running 99a flathead mated to a S-10 tranny. It's a roller now. I'll reinforce the rear frame section, everything is just tacked in place for now. I'll be installing an F1 steering box and pedals. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
He's running 35 wires all around with 600-16's up front and 650-16's in the rear. I'm going to make a nice strong double K member on both sides of the original center cross member. I'll try and upload updated photos as we progress. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
super coooooolllll!!!!!! What are you using for a tanny mount? Any pics? I had to make one for my Dads ModelA. If you got a better idea I'd like to see it.

What's the wheelbase with the spring mounted in front of the axle like that? Where will the rear tire and wheel end up in relation to the wheelhouse on your A body? Stock Model A wheelbase with the rear axle center directly under the rear crossmember is 103" and from the pic you posted it looks like you'll be about 110" now. Unless the frame was shortened 7 3/8" but it doesn't appear to have been. I have a spring behind in my A pickup and to keep the wheelbase at 103" I had to lengthen my frame 7 3/8" because spring behind moves the rear axle forward. Spring in front moves the rear axle reward, which would require the frame be shortened to keep the wheelbase right. Unless your planning to move the body rearward.
We changed the frame to accommodate the spring in front axle.... So basically the frame was shortened 7-1/2 inches. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!

Lookin' Good! I put a t-5 in my coupe and it worked out the balls( of course it's a traditional t-5( hrumph)Keep posting the pics for all us visual guys who don't read directions too well! ( first thing I throw away, then I can't figure out why they sent extra parts???)
