I did a search and nothing turned up, Looking for a good way to brace ( stiffen) up a 30-31 Ford Roadster body from the Left door jam (B pilair ) & around the package tray to Right door jam . My body had the rear half of the body was missing , I have located Original rear Quarter's & panel above trunk , ( no wood )) Or does any one have photo's of Original wood installed or Metal to replace the wood .
The roadster is probably the flimsiest of the Model A's, and that's saying something.Even with the stock package tray and wood structure behind the seatback, they almost always get stress cracks about 1 3" back from the door opening. I think it's Les Andrews who has a spiral bound book (part of a series) on installation of the "A" wood kit.I don't have any pictures, but the parts are readily available (Mac's, Snyder's etc.)and the books mentioned are easy to read and have LOTS of pictures.Hope this helps-Good luck with it.
This isn't the best photo but it should help. Most only use the three piece wood tack strip but this photo has the tack strip with an original metal tack strip on top. One is all that is needed. helps alot.
Thank you Mike, on book Thank you 62pan , yes the Roadster is a lot different then My 30 Sedan, When I put the roadster on my lift ,I had to make longer arm's & lift under the Front axle & under rear axle . Befor , The frame flexed, 1/4 @ door gap . And the Frame is boxed , the same way as my Sedan.
Here is a shot of the bracing in my 31 roadster. It was done by the previous owner but does a good job of stiffening things up and providing a place for the gas tank to be fastened to.
This is what someone did to brace up my roadster back when it was a drag car. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
