I have a couple sets of fenders that i'm going to put up for sale. While i'd love for the purchaser to be close so they could be picked up, it probably won't happen. Can you suggest the best way to ship these? The rear's should be easy. The front's are long so i'm not quite sure. Thanks, JT
i shipped a 41 ford big truck via greyhound.....it was something like $46 compared to ups' $130.......they handled it very nicely....i just wrapped the ends with cardboard and then bubble wrapped the whole thing, then shrink wrapped the whole thing.....a reall PAIN!!! actually, i set it up to go with ups, they came and got it then i came home the next day and it was sitting on the back porch..... i checked my shipping info and all of my measurements...it fit the parameters on their website as not being over-sized....i called them and the lady reimbursed my money and scratched her head as to why they returned it.....i think they described the reason as over-size but like she said, "It fit on his truck didn't it? So, I don't know why he brought it back..." greyhoud was friendly and cheap.... edit: that $46 quote was from ashland ky, to montanna
I agree on Greyhound. I had to ship a set of '40 LaSalle rear fenders (long & heavy) to FL from Texas a month ago. Used a Uhual Wardrobe box, wrapped them in Bubble wrap. Texas to FL on a wardrobe box that weighted 40lbs, $38. And they were there in 2 days!!!!! Just make sure you have the buyers Phone # on the Shipper Reciept. www.shipgreyhound.com for the nearest gas station Greyhound stop.
grey hound works great. sent hoods fenders doors and all kinds of big stuff with no problems. most times shipping is really fast.
I shipped a full set of model A fenders and running boards to from S.F. to Idaho. for a about $100. I packed them in a giant crate(pallet with sides built on it). I worked for a building supply at the time, shipped common carrier(truck). If you know some one that works at a place that has a forklift and does shipping/receiving of that size it's a good way to go. Woody
