Uncle Max rules...and 286merc has more knowledge about flatheads in his thumb than I do in total! I am glad you guys are around... Adam
A long wait is finally over. My first set of brand new 97´s arrived today. What comes to quality and craftmanship of this product it was well worth waiting. Check out the pics. Jaypee
Shizzie! I think I want at least four. Three to put on my mill and one to keep in the box and save. Those looking great. Woody
They look good - glad to see someone live up to their promises too! Now, did they think to manufacture a fuel fitting that screws in the end & takes a hose, or are we stuck trying to find the Ford-specific tube nut or rethreading? A post about this over on Fordbarn - one guy used an AN-6-to-hose nipple & put a 3/4" piece of 1/4" tube & ferrule inside - interesting way to skin that cat!
Good to see these things FINALLY hit the shelves (well, some anyway!). I'll be more interested if they ever make it to Australia.........although at around AU$530 it'll make a few people pucker up! I'll be needing a few new air horn castings though....at least being a little thicker than the original design they'll warp less!
When I finish my time machine, I'm going back to 1961 to get mine. Sorry for fuzzy image. Honest Charley catalog...1961
If you knew one of the "blokes" behind this venture, you'd know that nothing short of perfection would ever be acceptable. Ed Wimble makes certain celeb car designers look amateur, so I don't doubt the new 97s one bit.
I believe Uncle Max will be selling them REAL soon, he is in Utah. I am sure he will post on here when he gets them in. Also, Matt Werksman sells them as well, he posted earlier in this thread. MSRP $395. Adam
I think I am going to become a dealer for the Southern California area, I was discussing it with Ed Wimble over the weekend at the Roadster Show. The carbs look amazing, Ed had to pry it out of my hands to get it back. Jimmy White Circle City Hot Rods
A friend and I was at SAC in Orange, CA today talking with Roy (he is building my friend a frame for a '29 with flathead) and Ed Wimble came by with the 97's. Beautiful carburator's, a little heavier than originals but super nice castings and finiush. After the 97's are up and going they will be doing the 81's. A note on Ed, he is a super nice guy.
Got a letter from the Mayor today and the check's in the mail. Won't be long now. I'm a one-man show; if I need help, I use my other hand. Probably start with 6 or so, along with some pre-packaged parts. Should be mid February. Still sitting on well over 200 excellent cores to go through. . .
"Sorry we already have authorized rebuilders that they're first post wasn't spam...." they're= they are their=used as a modifier before a noun
I was their first official customer a couple of years ago buying some internal parts the quality iwas amazing. I can't wait to get my first batch in to sell.. These carbs are nice
Hey Uncle Max! Can I order 2 right now?!?!?! How can I pre-order??? I also need some advice on jetting. They'll be going on a Chevy 194 that's just warmed over a little from stock. I want to run them on a 2x2 manifold. Thanks!
Just got 4 new 97's in on Friday. They are shipping out to a customer already!!! Opened them up and man.........are they nice. Clive and his gang have outdone themselves again. The box is pretty cool too. More are on their way!!!! Matt
