Anyone out there have a Tin Man Tech planisher/shaper? I need more than a regular planishing hammer, but can't afford, nor have the room, for a power hammer. Tinman's seems to be the answer, as it can planish, flange, reverse curve, and even shrink. Wondering if it lives up to it's hype, and how well it performs over the long run. Would be using it on 18 ga. steel mostly.
I've had one for 14 years now. It is a great tool, that shrinks 14 or 16 ga steel all day long. Turn flanges with the flanging dies on compound parts, shape, and planish. One of the best investments I have made in my shop. It's way more than just a planishing hammer.
Wow, thanks, just what I need to hear! Need it to finish up an involved OT project, but then I can start on something I've been wanting to do for a long time, VERY on topic!
There is really nothing you can't do on it. It doesn't have a large contact point like a Yoder or Pettingill, but you can still shape low crown panels, you just have to be careful with your tracking patterns. I guarantee you will like it!
Are we talking about one of these? http://www.tinmantech.com/products/...s/complete-units/model-1000-straight-post.php
