    Hey guys,

I'm currently working on a 1953 Chevrolet 3100 series 5 window pickup. I bought the truck from a buddy and he threw in a 235 inline out of a 56. I noticed the original front motor mounts have been cut off and the p/o added side mounts. I think the simplest way to get the engine in the truck would be to go with the original style motor mounts which leads me to my problem. I cant find them anywhere. I can post pictures if need be, just don't have any with me. The mounts are two drop bolts mounted to a plate that bolts to the front of the engine (behind all the accessories, almost flush with the block) Does anyone on here have an old 235 lying around that they would like to sell me the front motor mount plate off of?

    thanks,

    Travis

can't you just drill the two holes in the plate that's on the engine already?

Since this engine is going into a '53 p.u. it would be even easier to drill 2 holes in the bottom of the existing '56 engine plate and use the corresponding holes in the frame of the truck. The rubber mount is available from some of the Chev truck sources. You would want to use the '53 bell housing as well.

There is a template available for the front mounting holes over on the stovebolt site

I literally just got back from dropping two blocks off at the s**** yard. Can't promise anything but I'll run over there in the morning and see if I can purchase the mounts and I'll just charge for the shipping and whatever it cost to buy them back.

the plate is a ***** to take off of the engine...have to remove the cam, so the lifters need to come out, damper removed, etc.

Yep. These were bare blocks. Just sitting on stands and the guts were long gone, off to other motors.

A drill and a 3/8 drill bit is all that is needed.

Thanks for all the replies. I have to pull all the accessories off anyways so I figured I would ask to see if anyone had a spare laying around. I didn't realize I would have to remove cam, lifters etc. If that's the case then I might just bust out the drill this weekend and try to do it while leaving the plate on the block.

I already have all OE mounts for a 53 as well. The old bolts have been cut off and the tops are welded, I foresee quality time with a drill and grinder...
