New Guy From MD

Discussion in 'New to the H.A.M.B.? Introduce yourself here!' started by greasemonkey54, Dec 2, 2014.

  1. Hi, my name is Matt and im the new guy from Bowie MD. I am getting ready to start work on a 1937 Chevy Master 2 door sedan. Its a mostly rust free unrestored, unmodded project. I hope to start work on it soon, once the holiday decorations are up.[IMG]

Welcome to the HAMB, Matt. That's a real nice start you have there with that '37 Chevy sedan. You don't usually find cars that nice in MD. If you haven't already, check out the MD HAMBers under "Geographical" in "Social Forums." At the top of the page, click the middle tab of the three black tabs on the left and scroll down to "Social Forums." Click that and scroll down to "Geographical." Click that and scroll down to MD HAMBers. There you can meet others in the area and also find out what's happening in the area. Hope to see you around.

Welcome, Matt. Looks like a nice solid '37 there. I'm not sure what's going on with the social groups. There have been a few other new folks who have had trouble signing into and joining up in the Md. HAMBers. Wish I knew what to tell you other than keep trying.........Don.

Matt, we're working on getting the MD HAMBers opened. Stay tuned. The HAMB changed to a new format in May and all the social groups got locked at that time. Not sure at this time exactly how to unlock it, but it appears the moderator of our social group, Lyle Willits, needs to do it.

ARGH!!!! Ok, stick with us as we probably aren't going to get this fixed tonite. Don sent you the invite, and I'm guessing here, but we still might need our moderator to either send it or somehow unlock the forum.

    Welcome to HAMB! try this...
I think all you have to do is click on the MD Hambers group, then click the drop down arrow next to 'Social Forum Tools' (below the red POST NEW THREAD box), and select 'join group'.
I did a test and was able to join another group that was set to private.

Don, better send him the secret decoder ring first. Looks as if Matt's still stuck. I looked at the members page again. "Greasemonkey54" is listed on the left, but underneath is "invite sent Tuesday" and not the join date like others on that list. Additionally, his avatar doesn't appear in the members list on the right, as far as I can see. Don't know about that 48 hr thing, either. But stranger things have happened. If it's still a no go in a day or so, I guess an e-mail to Ryan is in order.

Matt, Search around and see if there is a way to "respond" to the invite that I sent for you. Trust me, we want you to join and it really shouldn't be so difficult. Since the recent re-vamp of the forum some things have just become a bit confusing. Keep us informed.

Matt, give this a shot... go to Social Forums, Geographical, MD Hambers. You shud get to a page ***led MD Hambers - I think this was the page where you were at when it said you had insufficient privileges. Under the MD Hambers ***le, there is a black bar that sez "***le," "start date," "Replies," Views," and "Last Message" in it. Above that black bar on the right-hand side is faintly written, "social forum tools" and "watch forum." Click on the "social forum tools" which will give you a drop down menu that sez, "View Social Forum Members" and "Join Social Forum." Click on the "Join Social Forum" and that shud get you into the MD Hambers Social Forum. Let us know if that works for you. Good Luck!
