Working on the next project, a 1929 Ford Sedan Delivery. Since finding an original rear door handle isn't likely to happen, I've been told that there is another ford handle that is nearly identical, can anyone tell me what it is? Also, I need a latch for the rear door, same question, what other ford latch is most likely the same latch?

Plus, if anyone has any of the parts that will work, please email me! boneheadgarageca@gmail.com

    Thanks!

The 1928 decklid handle is the same. It is a T shaped handle. The shaft for the delivery is longer and the escutchion is different, being closer the 28-29 truck door handle escutchion. Pic's later this morning when I get to my computer instead of using my phone to post.

The latch I do not know of an interchange for. I have been told it is simular to the WWII duece and 1/2. Rod

Here is a comparison of the 1928 deckild handle and the rear door handle for the 1929 Deluxe Delivery.

BTW: do you have and wood suitable for patterns for the rear door? Been searching for patterns for quite a while. Finally found patterns for the rear floor risers and the latch and hinge pillars, so making progress in that regaurd. Thanks Rod

    Rod,
I might be able to help you with patterns for your wood, I would need to look, But my car came with a wood kit that was made in the 70's by a wood craftsman from the original wood.

May have been JD Bernard in Co. that repopped them. His were slightly different than the two I have. His cases have a wedge shape to them. The two originals I have both have squared corners, with no wedge shaped. Functionally I believe they are the same. The extra I have is spoken for, so not for sale. Pic's of one of them later today as for some reason the pic's I thought I had are not in my picture album. Rod

Let me know when you have the chance. I am borrowing patterns for the floor risers and the back panel latch and hinge pillars. I will be picking them up in Omaha on my way to Chicago this weekend. Classes all next week, so my only access to the HAMB will be with my phone. Thanks Rod

Wish mine would have been in that condition. Mine was just a body with rusted out quarters etc. Did get a good deal though. I bought a chassis a short time later and other parts over a couple of years. When I got it running I had alittle under 3K into it. Unfortately the engine that was with the chassis is worn out in every respect. I have a good used engine on the stand now that I will use until I can afford to rebuild the numbers matching engine. Besides looking for almost all of the wood for patterns I am going to need to farm out most of the repairs for the rear panel. Some of what it needs is beyond my current skills. Rod

I do not know how correct you are planning on with the details or how complete your delivery is. But thought I would let you know that another delivery owner is having several sets of the original style bed strips made. Contact me for more info. Also there is a delivery sedan social group on Fordbarn. I started it shortly after Ryan took over and changed Fordbarn. Not a particuraly active group, but several members I contact on a regular basis. Rod
