Bought a 1932 ford Pu from a gentleman that has owned it since the 80's. Went on and on about these 2 piece valve cover being designed by Larson. Mentioned being one of a very few sets known etc... I've seen similar when looking up larson covers, but nothing exact. One post Mentions a set that had breathers which mine do along with cross flags, but can't find any pics. Any help would be great!!!! Trying to upload pic.

Wow, yes, those are odd ball cool as hell. Don't hit me yet....but you may find more info on the roadsters dot com site.....I think he has those on there. Can you post some more close ups when you can ? I've always been a fan of those covers.

EDIT- LARSON covers, if those are the same......I found perhaps some older versions online that look like.....[IMG]
.....actually there are dozens online that look like what I just posted....but I have not seen any like yours. Several other manufacturers made/make 2 piece covers....Moroso being one....Cal Custom another.....maybe they are Larson one offs....or maybe the guy meant Larson type....and someone else made them????

Either way, they are quite uncommon, and I like 'em. Anything other then standard sbc is different of course. I also remember a Gurney Eagle-esque type of cover made to also simulate DOHC....but they were black crinkle coat, and full polished without the ribbing.

Something tells me I have seen yours before....but maybe I just remember what I had posted above? Definitely 70's-80's era.

I believe that is a different Larson, but thanks. I'll go with my spelling based off previous threads about these valve covers.

Yes, there are two Larsons mentioned....Bob or a Wally, and also another L****n dba as of 1997.....Pretty sure it is a Wally Larson.....that made these....I can't find much either......but the previously mentioned Wally has a 572 Keith Black DOHC 4000 horsepower custom bodied land speed race car....that supposedly is able to be driven on the street......now that is some screwy bad *** **** there.

The covers were made for full valve adjustment while engine was running. Oversized obviously, and maybe he spun out some DOHC simulated tops to change it up, so to speak. Regardless of what is said about them....the guy that made them is a pretty gnarly frekn' talented guy. You either love the style or hate 'em.....but I don't know many who build their own ****, at 4000 hp to race and/or drive.

Throw some injection stacks on topside, or maybe a blower...in lieu of the four barrel carb.....and people will probably pipe down commentary a bit, but who knows? You sure can't keep other people happy in regards to what you like...on your car.

Also.....this guy.......Doug email- tbbronson@yahoo.com ph. 423-933-8412.....supposedly has been making copies of the previous model covers.......for over a decade or so......maybe he knows more about them.

Yes sir......your car, and lovely wife showed up on Google gallery imaging......GREAT frekn' car sir ...and wife obviously ! The Larsons went to some company called Induction Engineering.....then somehow made it into the Moroso lineup. Dunno' what happens when a manufacturer moves on with their lineups....but supposedly the guy popped them out for a year, then ****....the line continued elsewhere. Not much comes up online....hell, I even cheat with a "carnivore" internet program from work.....that grabs stuff from everywhere. Who knows?

On the other hand.....your roadster is *****in' ! ! !

Thanks, you are quite the gentleman. I've only had the car for 24hrs, so I'm just educating myself more and kinda liking the setup for now. It was a driver that has made many a road trip and I'm sure that explains the blasfumus 4barrell! Lol

I have a set of the old Moroso L****n covers on my T Bucket. Make that SBC look like a BBC. The question I have is "Do you want to sell them?" They would look cool on the stroker in my 31 Coupe. 23TBucket.jpg

Not looking to sell. Especially since I have yet to figure out or find another. I'll have to get more info from the owner, but he was very specific about being Larson and of very few made. They are cool and show evidence of hand made. You tell by looking at the inconsistent grinding around the edges.

I didn't figure you would want to sell.....but had to ask......lol. BTW, they are not hand made. Mine do not have that inconsistency. Someone was modifying yours or something. I can't tell you the number of times ppl ask what kind of engine is that? My response usually is "What do you think it is?" I let them wonder a few minutes and then tell them the secret of the SBC bolts being on the inside of the main body casting. You will be able to have some fun with that with your buddies. They would look cool on my stroker, especially with the old offy six pack and Carter deuces setup we are gonna put on this winter after we install a lumpy Comp cam. Looks like you have a pretty cool old deuce pickup. Enjoy it.

Bob Larson, I believe Romulus, Mi. Bob pasted away years ago. I used to sell them at a local speed shop I worked at in the late 80's. The were 2 styles for SBC, and 1 for BBC. The lower portion were wrinkle black, tops were polished w or w/o flags...no breathers were installed, most customers mounted them on the end of the lower 1/2...Hope that helps a bit

You're right Cabover. Of all of the L****n covers I've seen, absolutely none had flats between the fins. I wonder what these say on the inside of the casting after the tops are popped off?.

Update- I had a nice conversation with Mike Larson, Son of Wally Larson. I Sent hime pics and he was intrigued. Said they were made in the Lodi foundry in California where his other covers were produced after switching from a foundry in terra haute Indiana. There was a guy and his uncle that worked for Wally that would occasionally put out sets here and there for friends and friends of friends. They tried to give it a go, but didnt work out. He confirmed that they were definitely Larson engineering and some of the last ones made in the early 2000's. Said maybe 150 sets were produced, Maybe!

In summary, my unstanding is these were designed in the 80's like the others, but made as friends of the forementioned guys that worked at the foundry wanted a set. I wish I could remember where I read that there was an option of these with the flat valley with cross flags, so to add breathers if desired?! Which is why I've been searching for another pic posted somewhere.

No really, I'm not looking to buy any. I really was just curious what you think the going rate is. then seeing as nobody can show me or give me any more information on the ones I have I could probably tack on a little bit more. I just wanted to know what you would charge if you're going to sell them.

For what it's worth, I forgot to mention that I'm okie myself. Born and raised in Tulsa. Of course I've never referred to myself as a Okie, usually refer to myself as a Tulsan

PM what you want for them and I'll consider it. The worst thing that can happen is I'll say thanks, but no thanks.

I have seen those valve covers go for 750 to 900 bucks, in very good condition.

I figured you guys might like to see this intake since it was also made by Larson for a car he built. It was featured on the cover of Hot Rod Magazine and Popular Hot Rodding. It's going on a Blown LS based 408 converted to EFI... Going in a 1951 5 window. I also found a brand new in the box set of vintage Larson Engineering Valve Covers on Craigslist in another state. They are supposed to ship them out Wednesday.

That's cool I received a picture of the same car from Wally larsons son. What was the asking price on the valve covers and can you post a pic so I can see?
