Projects Beaver's 1930 roadster on deuce rails

my take on a post war style hot rod,,, no holds on this project

i'll add a few pictures of what I started with and a few of the project as it sits now.

The guys over at Old Soul Hot Rod Shop put together a kick ass custom frame and suspension, really great work.

got the rear subrails in and mostly fitted to the frame, not really quite sure how it will all tie together at the rear bumper area (if anyone has some detailed shots of how they pulled off this style subframe set up i'd be interested to see) I also started to mess around with a 47 dash to see how it would fit, then also started checking out the windshield posts and it seems they are going to take some fitting to get right, my guess is heating up the cast part they bolt to and adjusting them (if anyone has tips or info on fitting roadster windshield stanchions it would eb great)

Nice project, Welcome to the HAMB ! If the lower stantions are reproductions you will have to adjust things. I think the original mount is cast not forged and heating it isn't going to be good. Getting a nice fit on the lower stantions takes time if you want cowl, door and cross rail gaps the same. Be sure to order the special lead filler pieces that go between the rail and stantions. NICE roadster, Beav! (glad you removed those seats, LOL) That rounded windshield frame had me in the same place as the seats...Whew!

As for 'cast' (or forged, 'hard' nevertheless) stanchions, the rule is to massage the massagable... the tin.
Sheet metal around and below the hard stanchions is shapable, and Bob mentioned some lead pieces...
Not familiar with those, but they sound like 'lacing', or 'fairings'...
This car is an astounding study in simplicity....Without the seats...

 

Snyders or any good A parts supplier will have the lead shims. Their job is the seal the area between the lower stantions and the cross rail under the windsheild, other wise rain and wind will just rush in. Bob

 

not sure if i want to cut the lower portion of the rear wheel openings to the contore of the 32 frame or leave them origanal, any images or ideas

You should check out how 51farmtruck did his on his roadster a couple months ago. Real nice stuff in a big hurry too.

got the inner fenders welded in and the doors are about lined up and closing great, next is frame mounts

 

Nice work! I love the look of that dash. Reminds me of Jimmy Bean's roadster dash..

The inner fenders are repops I modified to fit the sub rails, I'll see if I can find a photo
