I finally got to see my new car today. Bought from David Book (book85) on the HAMB back in October, it's finally made its way to the UK and getting ready to come up to Scotland. I can't say how happy I am with the build quality and overall finish of the car. It's everything I had hoped and more. A great credit to ***us and David who helped make it what it is. Buying sight unseen and trusting folks is a big ask for this kind of money, but I couldn't have asked for a better seller than David. Thanks a lot. Watch out for me racing at Pendine sands next year.
Awesome! Glad you like it! Thank Bob Bleed and Jeff Peterson of Midwest Fabrication. Thank Ranier also! I think his name is diesel something on here. Im just glad you like it. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
If it was me you were referencing in your post i didnt really have much to do with the coupe, it is Ranier (DamnNearRanier)you should be thanking too, he did built the car originally and then sold it to Dave, who had Bob and Jeff at Midwest fab chop the top, then Dave made some changes to make it his own. I sold ranier the frame for the car and a few other bits but that was about it! my wife Jennie (stich*****) did the top insert and seat.
Nice!! The guy in the Suit looks as if he's wishing he had that Bad*** Hot rod instead of a Freakin Prius!!! Lol
Actually I now own two. I've got an A sedan with a Nailhead I'm just about to put up for sale. That makes me own the only two Nailheads in Scotland!
Congratulations to stunning car! I know exactly what you mean regarding buying sight unseen and waiting/hoping for the car to arrive as you imagined it would be... See you next year at Pendine...Buick Nailhead vs. 389 Pontiac (seems we both will have to fab some kind of hood to caover the engine according to the rules) Helge
Thanks Helge, Have you been to Pendine before? I've done it both years and its the best fun you can have in a hotrod. See you on the sand.
Sorry ***us, I did mean to credit Ranier, and your wife. Loving the car. I'll post some pics of the bits I'm doing to it soon.
No, it will be my first time at Pendine...just received my tickets in the mail yesterday Time to start planning the trip and think about what has to be prepared/changed on the car over the winter...
***us, Jennie (s***chb!tch): top insert is BAD A$$. Would love to see upclose pics of top. & overall, car is bad ***! NAILED it!
No need to apologies, just wanted to make sure Ranier got his mention! it was a neat car, i was really surpised that Ranier sold it, i figured he would have hung onto it longer!
Wow!! Super rad! Thanks for the cred, I loved that car! Put atleast 8,000 miles on it the first summer it was done, I even drove it to the lone star roundup in Austin Texas from St. Paul Minnesota. It was always a super reliable and comfertable car. Dave Book really topped off the look of that car when he had Bob, Jeff Peterson and crew Chop it after buying from me. I'm really glad it went to another Hamber, and Nailhead addict!
Thanks Jeff! You deserve cred too! If it wasent for you I wouldn't have been able to put that car together they way I wanted at that time, nor would I have hardly any of the stuff I own right now. It was hard to sell that car I loved driving it, but if it wasnet for selling it I would have been able to hoard all the 32 stuff I've got now!
Just a wee update on this old coupe After 7 years of hard use, and probably around 30,000 miles of road use , a replacement motor, fitted O/D , and Winters Q/C and a few other upgrades of more a cosmetic nature, the car met an untimely demise on its was south to the NSRA hot rod drags. The result of a collision with a delivery van cutting across its bow the coupe saw some serious damage to the body and shifted the rear axle way across to the p***enger side . Gus's body was also a little beat up with his previously damaged arm being broken in 6 places .. The van driver split the scene but we got him in the end . The car was written off by the insurance but Gus bought back the salvage and took a payment for the rest and we are rebuilding it. Things were a bit tired but fortunately the impact was absorbed by the body and the rear axle ,manly bending of the spring mount .. There was a **** load of remedial work showed up but that all history and the car is well on the mend with a host of new ch***is x members to accommodate a removeable cage . A full cage being required for Pendine since the car exceeds the 110mph speed on the sand and falls into the bracket for cage requirement. Thats all sorted but I also added a permanent roll bar for any future mishaps. Of course we hope it will never need to prove its function but its there just in case some update pics for posterity .. Still working on it to complete the rebuild. I haven't went so far as to loose the original vibe of the car ,just rebuilt it to be solid , reliable and hopefully safe. A lot of the ch***is work if purely to support the removeable cage ,but I like a bit of symmetry so whats done on one side is duplicated on the other ,not exactly required and a bit of extra weight, but it looks good when your spying on it from the underside
OMG thats awful the hit and run. glad to hear they caught him. looks like you are doing an amazing job getting it back to its former glory.
Glad no one was seriously hurt! Looks like that body took a serious hit! Good job saving it and putting it back together.
I can't thank Ian (redoxide) enough for his work rebuilding the car. He has gone way beyond a simple fix and made it so much better and stronger. I can't wait to drive it again. With the new stiffer ch***is and a newly rebuilt gearbox with uprated parts it will go better than ever. Long live 64!
