I have been trying to think of an interesting gas pedal for my 40 Ford PU and decided this is it. I got it when the wife and I went to California with our daughter on our first trip with the baby. We stopped in the local police station in Pacific Grove and since we are both police officers, we hit it off with one of the commanders and he gave us two commemorative belt buckles. I don't have any weird stuff on this truck so this will likely be it. It has a perfect bracket on back that will attach to the accelerator bracket and provide a nice solid attachment point and still cantilever.

  2. Gas CAP, I could see; gas PEDAL, not so much. Think of the imagery: 'I'm stepping on the Po Po, right here!!'

Probably not the image you want, esp. right now.

Hum Cosmo, you make a good point. Even as a police officer I didn't think you "stepping" on myself. Gas or radiator cap.... Yeah I like that better. Thanks! ****, now I still need to find a pedal. Back to the hunt. Wait, how about a pedal with Al Sharptons face on it?

  4. probably not what you want to hear , but in a `40 ford i like the stock gas pedal

  6. How about a traditional foot, instead of a political statement?? Or a handmade shape of some sort (metal, wood, pottery). That would have YOU writ all over it.

Hmm seems like a cool concept! How about a cast aluminum or bronze Ford symbol?

Not getting into a "stepping on Ford" discussion. I have had my fair share of both GM and Ford.

I know a guy that has a supply of plastic replica dog poop. It's about a 3" diameter coiler.

Yeah, for when you want to "Step in it" instead of "Step on it"

You also have to add his partner Jesse on there too.

Yeah I will probably come up with something homemade. Don't have a lot of room between tunnel and brake. Thanks for the ideas folks.

A s**** pedal fits tight quarters and never looks out of place on a hot rod.

Maybe make one up that says "GAS", kinda like the old brake pedals that said "Power Brake".

Might have to make it vertical if space is limited

To whit, I like you example. That looks simple enough to make and clean as well.

Yeah, I even made one for my OT 92 F150 for more leg room when it was three days old; I also rearranged the clutch and brake levers with a torch, all to fit my long legs..

I suggest sticking with a traditional styled pedal and avoid that style which is closely ***ociated with the RR movement.

Doing a little redesign work and making a shifter out of the center of the buckle or incorporating it in a seat belt would be my thoughts. HRP
