Hot Rods 296 flathead carb choices for twins.

    We are building a 296 flathead and wish to keep the same Eddie Meyer twin hi rise manifold. What are the thoughts on running two 48 strombergs over two 97 strombergs. Before you say run 3 carbs , we want to keep the same look we have at present. Yes we have also posted on the ford barn.

    For big inch flatheads, when using two 48's, I usually build them in a "Hybrid" configuration, using 97 style throttleshaft ends with the S & W balls, 97 style airhorns and 97 style accelerator pump link; the result is more flexibility in tuning.
    As for jets and powervalves, two 48's seem to be happy and make good power with .046's and # 65's.

    Thanks for the reply uncle max , from someone who sure knows his flatheads. This gives me an excellent base line to begin.
