Just thought that we could the same for Kustoms, if that's alright with you gentlemen? The Kustoms NEED to be Drivers though NO trailer queens here!

Wow!! Thanks man! You rock...I just spent an hour trying to find pics of the Adonis and had finally thrown in the towel...

I know that this one's not all that traditional, but it's still one of my fav's...

I thought he said "drivers."

Anyways, my two favorite HAMB customs that haven't yet been mentioned (glassguy's Merc rounds out my top three):

Cleatus' Chevrolet and this hardtopped Merc, I can't remember the owner's screen name...

If it has to be a HAMBer's car??

The Space Herpie...completely home-built kustom forged from raw passion and determination rather than cubic dollars. It ain't the prettiest, it ain't the nicest, but I think Our Boy Bryan proved that a Killer Kustom with ATTITUDE could be built in a humble garage with basic equipment by anyone willing to sweat or bleed enough to see it through.

The car is a DRIVER...and still in progress, always getting better.

    It gets my vote.

    1. Nick Matranga's '40 Merc.
    2. Louie Bettancourt '49 Merc.
    3. Jerry Quesnel '49 Merc.

Does any of these three Kustoms still exist, or have they been lost and been cloned?
Is there anyone who can tell me anything about Harry Westergard and his work, is any of his cars still around?

Distroyed in a car accident. Many clones have been done. One in fact in Michigan by a buddy named Chuck Reynolds. He had it in the Detroit Autorama a few years ago. I'll see if I can dig up a photo.

  18. It's JB's Merc....which is also one of my favorite HAMBer rides.

    1. As mentioned before The Nick Matranga 1940 Mercury was totaled on a rainy day after Nick had sold it. This was in the early 50's

    2. Louie Bettancourt was stolen when it was owned by Dean Jeffries, there are rumors its still around, but its not very likely it be restored to its former glorie. But I hope these last rumors are not accurate and the car will be sold to somebody who is willing to go all the way to get it back into its former glorie.

    3. Jerry Quesnel's Mercury is also still sort of lost. There are rumors it is still around, but nobody seemt to be able to conferm this with photo's or anything else.At one point it was redone and the process was featured in an early 60's Popular customs magazine (anybody had that issue, I would love to see that article!).

And as for Harry Westergard customs. Yes there are still a few around today. Curt McCormic just finished the restoration of a Westergard built 1941 Cadillac. And also Jack Walker (known best for his Hirohata Mercury clone) restored an 1940 Mercury with full fade away fenders about a year ago. Mel Falconer's 1939 Ford is still aroundin very good shape and several others are as well.
