Just found out that **** Wells has died from heart surgery, according to STREETSCENE NSRA magazine. **** was one of the original group of well known "car guys" that was instrumental in forming a nation wide ***ociation that became known as NATIONAL STREET ROD ***N. He will be sorely missed by all of us "old timers" that had known him for so many years!-------R.I.P. **** Wells
**** Wells was the first active president of the NSRA, the first editor of National Dragster and the producer of the first SEMA Show and a board director of the NHRA. Also a SEMA person of the year and member of the SEMA Hall of Fame. Close friend of Wally and Barbara Parks, **** was always the consummate gentleman. He will be missed.
Another pioneer has p***ed away,, **** Wells was instrumental in helping starting the National Street Rod ***ociation and the first president of the organization. HRP
Met him in the early 70s when I was Alaska state rep and Life Member for NSRA. Quite a Guy, contributed alot to the sport/hobby. RIP Mr Wells, God Speed!!! Dave
Yep. It's been a few weeks now. Hands down one of the nicest, and most p***ionate people I have ever met. May he rest in peace. Deepest condolences to his friends, family, and loved ones.
Used to run into **** at Twilight Cruise at the museum. Found an article about him in an old Street Rodder. A real mover and shaker in the hot rod industry. When he moved to CA, Wally hired him to start National Dragster. He told me he had no experience going in, it was all OJT. I think he was being humble. He was also on the board for the NHRA Museum. He'll be missed
With due respect to **** Wells, and I have/had great respect for him, he was not the first prez of NSRA, Bruce Miller was. Also, Bruce Miller with a couple others held the first NSRA Nats in Peoria, Illinois 1970. I attended the 1971 Nats in Memphis along with Bruce Miller when we introduced Street Rod Magazine. When I became the editor of Street Rod Magazine, **** Wells was the the prez of NSRA and he and I developed a cordial relationship, albeit only by mail; we never met face to face. During that time, I obtained NSRA Life Membership #27.
I don't think that when he was president of the NSRA or when you and him became friends has any bearing on his current situation or how it has effected those who will miss him, does it. I never knew **** Wells, no doubt my loss. Never the less some of you have and I offer my condolences to you for your loss.
I worked with **** on the NSRA Nationals in Detroit while I was working with GM. He was certainly a gentleman and a great supporter of our sport. My condolences to the family. He will be missed.
Thank you, for a while I thought, what the ......? I met and liked him at SEMA, nice guy.. I thought he had p***ed a while back...
some read slower than others,,, There is a lot of catching up to do... The way this is formatted, half the time, I don't even realize how old the post are, till some brain points it out..
In an effort to disguise my latent stupidity I always make a point of checking the date of the last post, it is at the bottom where it is easy to see after you have read the post itself. Roo
