Glad you have reconsidered, the car looks great as-is, except for those wheels and tires. Makes my eyes burn.
Now take the image of the gold one, put those wheels on it.....sorry, put the mags on the gold one....not good, IMO.
Maybe, do it up beautifully and sell it for g***er funds?
    Either way, start a thread.:)

Sorry I didn't know no better than to call your 210 a bel air. I am a Mopar guy. So you know we can have a narrow view at times and miss some things. I do like the way yours looks.
Has a compe***ion look. I had been thinking of going that direction with this but have been talked out of it here.
I'm sure its for the best on this car.
It took me a bit to get through all the replies here and I am kind of liking
the 60s tow car/ street brawler takes by most.
I'm afraid if I started with the straight axle then I would want a tilt front end
and it would just keep going in that direction and make the car more money and time to accomplish. I think I should work on getting it painted. So it can be on the road again.

Oh yeah, the blown, injected Hemi w/4 speed in your avatar looks like it's set on ''kill''!

I don't think I can go all the way back to the hub caps like on the pace car myself.
Honestly the car is not in fine enough condition for a full on original resoration. It also is a Seville rather than an adventure. So much of the trim would be unobtainable. This is why I didn't feel to bad about changing some things with this car.
If the car had been a true Adventurer with the 345 dual quads I would not have bought the car and let someone
with the proper skills and budget restore it. In fact this is a car that they would have sacrificed to restore a adventurer. I couldn't bring myself to letting someone just part it out till dead.

I have my eye on a 33 Plymouth coupe in a barn for that engine project. That is the engine that was original to the Desoto. The ply coupe is currently not for sale but the gentleman that owns it
is in his nintys and wants to restore it someday. I have known about the car for 30 years and it has not moved from the dirt floor it was put in. The barn is getting shaky though. He may out live me. LOL.

Nice project. I wouldn't change much, just put gl*** in it and buff out the paint.

  10. I might go Jr. Stock on that one.

If my memory is correct, the cross ram was around before 1960. I think I remember a high school buddy showing off his dad's '56(?) Dodge Daytona 500 with two fours on the long cross ram intake manifold. The car's emblems had a pair of crossed checkered flags with"500" in the middle. Anybody know if this is right?

Your '56 is a great looking project!
Kinda like my Pontiac, a little bigger, a little more chrome, but multiple carbs and a stick shift.
You can dare to be different, I like the wheels, just not the white letters.
Color combination from the factory is great I hope you stick with it!
    Will be following this built.

I afraid the paint is beyond a buff. Very old dried and cracked in spots. The car has not really been a high dollar project at all. I really have just been trying to save it from the certain death it was found as. I have put some time and money into it to as I can and it has improved so it doesn't look like the lost cause it was. The car has been p***ed on for thirty years as to rough.
The Hemi I took out of it I bought as a pig in a poke that turned out well.
I will repaint back to original and put a set of chrome reverse wheels on it to back date the aluminum wheels to the 60s.

Well I like it a lot. Black or 2 tone still looks good. Wire wheels look really good on the Chrysler products in those years.

If it were mine I would just swap out the aluminum slots for some black steelies with some dog dishes, keep the stance the way it is by the time you add gl*** and interior it will settle down some.

I had forgot about that one from the road warrior. Didn't really have mud cleats and side pipes in mind. They were going for maximum shock appeal for sure with a pink body blocked off the frame and wasnt flame throwers about to back the car up from the fuel compound. LOL.

Please keep that one the way it is. I like the looks of the vintage original paint. I will walk past dozens of street machines across a big parking lot to see that one with the cross ram 440. I'm a chevy guy but I like that!

I really am surprised how many of you guys with g***ers say to keep it as is.
Here's a couple pictures of how it had progressed before I started on the bodywork and broken gl***. And began cleaning it up and repairing dash wires
and making the seats usable again.
The car has changed since these pictures. It now has the push ****on trans instrument panel removed and the pedal set changed for the stick.
I also redid the gauge panel with woodgraining to break it up some.

I like the cal bug statement. Here in the Midwest their is no cal bugs. Environment much to harsh for them they die off. They can't make the distance between towns. LOL

I think its just different enough to be kinda cool. But as far as what style to build it I think I would look at the mild customs thread, and see if any styling there turns your crank. Do a build thread on whatever way you decide to go ... I love the Mopars.

My aunt bought a 56' Chrysler new and I bought it in 63' for my tow car for my 37' g***er

It was the Windsor 2 dr hardtop in med met blue & powder blue two tone, so I used the darker blue for the g***er color and they looked great going down the road hooked up with a tow bar that we used back in the day

Was a great car and wished I had it now, towed the g***er with now trouble with the little 318 poly head engine

Please restore it and build a g***er with smaller car and have a matching pair like I did, as it was a very cool looking package

Now that sir is a great response. How can you get better. History and pictures from someone who was their living it.
Your car is beautiful. I hope you can find a replacement Windsor someday.

56nomadvi-vi.jpg Yes , I think the G***er thing has been overdone lately. That would look much better on the ground cruising the streets. I did the g***er thing 10 years ago & now it is back on a standard frame getting semi restored.
