I'm going to be bringing my 34 home from the body shop pretty soon [Jimmy promised before Christmas] and I threw a pair of old axles under the frame just to weld mount tabs to attach the axles to the frame temporarily. My old axles have different bolt patterns [5 on 5.5 early ford] than my permanent axles and as such, I don't have a set of wheels/tires to use. All my wheels have a different bolt pattern except for a pair of dismounted 40 ford wheels. Anybody have some early ford wheels/tires I can use to roll my car from inside the body shop to the trailer and then off the trailer to my garage?

Thanks, mister lead-man but I'll need to cinch the car down tight to the trailer and I don't trust wood wheels not to break/collapse on my way home. I can just see my baby in the mirrors, gently rolling over and over down I-80 behind me. Thanks anyway tho.

Find 4 spacesaver/spare tires at the junkyard and and drill or plasma cut the lug pattern needed and bolt them on - if you cut them the right way it won't ride like a clown car.

    That's not a bad idea.
I have a great supply of big flat washers in case the lug holes get too big.
. It'd be helpful if the center hole was at least close to help center the wheel. Hmmmmm, I already have one space saver and I can get more. Good option! Thanks.

U followed up on spdster's idea and this is what I came up with. Used a little acetylene, to rough-cut the center and lug holes bigger and wheel.jpg wheel1.jpg wheel6.jpg followed up with a die grinder and a carbide tip to fine-tune the fit. It looks horrible but will serve to get my car on the trailer. Just need to do 3 more of 'em.
    Thanks, spdster!

I'd love to see a video of Rocky rolling it onto the trailer and into his garage, especially if the wheels are off-center and wobble - jarring to say the least. And put a dashboard hula girl or the bobble-head Chihuahua dog in for good measure.

Well, Al....I probably won't set any speed records at Bonneville with these wheels but they'll be fine to roll the car around on. Notice they still have their small bolt pattern so when I'm finished with them,I'll give them to you for your T-bird.

Well that was easy to fix.

scored 3 more at the local U-pull-it this afternoon. Found they fit late 90s dodge vans and measure 26 inches tall with a 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern. The junk yard wanted $25 for common tires but only $10 for the little
    donut spares.

Thanks - I could use them on my parts car, I guess. I would have let you use the '40 wheels I got from you a few years ago if I'd had known you needed them for a few days. But I really wanted to see the coupe do the "bob'n'weave."
