I recently got a steering column for my '54 Chevy half-ton. The guy who gave(!) it to me pulled it out of a '52. I've heard conflicting reports about whether these columns are interchangeable. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks.

47-53 are the same. 54-55 1st series are the same. I don't know what the difference is.

just guessing but I would think whatever difference there is would not effect mounting the column in the truck.

Gentlemen, thanks. I'll probably find out any difference pretty soon.

The main differences are: the bed, the windshield, the grill, the hood (where it meets the grill), the hood badge, the dashboard, the upholstery, the steering wheel, the taillights, and the 55 A.D. has open drive. I hope I didn't leave anything out.
