The 51 Caddy that was created on Monster Garage by Frank DeRosa Sr. and Jr. along with Darryl Starbird, John Aiello and others was featured at Starbirds Hot Rod & Custom Show over the weekend. The episode still has not aired on Discovery Channel so you haven't missed it. Anyone have pics to share of show? I heard it was a great collection of art on wheels!
Yeah, I was there signing autographs on the only pic that Darryl had! He copied like a gazzillion times and had me, himself, Dennis McPhail, and Jeff Myers.
The pictures from the Wichita Starbird show are going up currently on the http://www.carnut.com web site. I would expect that they will all be up some time tomorrow evening. I saw you a couple of times at the show Lil Mike but I figured that you already had plenty of strangers walking up on you.
HEY DEROSA GIRL, The others that were on the build TEAM were Dennis McPhail and ,Myself ,Jeff Myers, Yes Darryl, Myself,Dennis and Mike were there signing autographs, The clone of the car is a close rendition of what the Build Team put together in 5 days .We worked well as a team, completed our task and earned our goodies, and feel free to use all the names in any printed material you wish to write about in the future. Billy Gibbons was on the design Team,as well as the involvement Jesse had on this build. It was a great Honor to have Mr. Bill Hines come over and lead in the headlights and taillights after I was done frenching them. what a dream come true it was to work with such talent.
Cant wait to see it... Assume it was a 2 door hardtop? Wonder if it was a Sixty-Two series or Sixty-One series? Hyfire
All the pics aren't posted yet on "carnut", the caddy isn't on there but I'm sure i will tomorrow....But check out this 36 highboy pickup that was posted on one of the first pages!!!!
Gday Guys, hate to upset you but it was aired over here in Aus about 2 weeks ago, love the car and great to see all the guys all together working on one car
Sorry if all of names of the TEAM build weren't included in my post. No harm intended as appears you may or may not have taken it. It was late when I got the call from a friend saying that he had seen what he thought was the actual 51 Cadillac and all of you at the show in Kanas. (He said that the crowd was thick and he couldn't get too close but everyone really dug it~Cheers! Hats off to you guys!) My father came home from Long Beach with a renewed hunger for customizing and raved about everyone on the "SUPER TALENTED TEAM" from across the United States as he puts it bluntly. Being part of this TEAM build was one of the best things that could have happened to him at his age (pushing 80 and works 5 days a week/8 hours a day) and with his current health issues. I can't say enough how happy it made him and he says "Everyone brought pure talent to the table and achieved excellence on that that once in a lifetime experience!" A dream come true for ones with it in their heart & soul.
Starbird...Starbird...he like to clone cars or take credit for cars he didn't build like the LIL Coffin which was built by Wichita's legend Dave Stucky. Any comments...
Yea, kind of kills it for me. Far better work than I could ever do though, but please, dip those bumpers in some chrome
When did Darryl take credit for that? It says who built it on the museum display. And what's he "cloned", hijacker jackoff?
Must have painted the front bumper assembly too? Wonder what it looks like.... For some reason 1950's cads never look just right customized... The Marlyn '53 Eldo was the best effort, but I can't think of another heavily custom caddy that looks right from every angle.... They managed to make it look longer which is one of the hard parts of the 48-53 design. Hyfire
Looks very very nice, but the painted brightwork and lack of anything to scale it against makes my poor little brain think it's a toy or something. the backdrop almost makes the whole thing look like a diorama kids would make for a school project. (too many years teaching 4th graders i guess) Very nice piece of work (the car, not my brain).
RF, Have you seen the original model of the LIL Coffin? The box credits Starbird. Do you know Stucky? I do The car is now in Starbirds museum. Ruined of course. I heard he was telling everyone at his last show that the Caddy was the original one on Monster garage. The one in the picture is a clone..duh...
