Hay all you guys. great to read all the stuff from the old days. anyone out there remember a 55 chevy D-gas dark blue called the Sneaker Squeeker? Use to run at conn drag strip back in like 67-68-69. By the way, There was a place called Performance Centers in East Hartford that sold speed equipment and goes back to the mid 60's. Is Harry's place still there in colchester? Was the hot spot after racing back in the 60's and 70's.

I remember Ed's Speed Shop, right across from the dump on 303 by 59. It looked like the guy worked right out of his house, just added on to his garage to the side. They tore that place down about 6 years ago? Now there's a car dealership in its place.

    Fellas,

Just happened by the place while they were removing siding. The last address for the ALMQUIST SPEED SHOP was in Neptune New Jersey. DSCN4610.JPG

NHR Speed Shop in Harrison, NJ, owned by my cousin, Bobby Burgess.
He held the National C/MSP for a while in an injected '56 Vette.
I worked there as a counterman in the mid-'60's while in college.
Our home tracks were Old Bridge, and Island Dragway.

**** Moroso had a Citi Service station in Stamford, CT just across the bridge from the old Redman Chevrolet Dealership back around 1963 or 64
He later moved to C**** Street in Stamford around 1965 and called the business Performance Automotive where he had one employee whose name was Mike and I forget his last name.
I used to hang around the place all the time and ever Saturday like clockwork guys would show up with a car on a trailer and wanted to race ****'s Corvette for a few hundred dollars and every Saturday he took their money.
**** left Stamford around early or mid 1966 and went to work for Stahl Headers in York, PA.
**** moved the family back to CT. around 1967 or early 1968 and set up Moroso Performance in Greenwich on Putnam Ave next to the McDonalds.

I didn't read the whole thread but Maratta's in Hartford and Montambo's (sp) in Waterbury, John Hychcho's (Valley Autobody) was nearby. Had an early (50's) Studebaker coupr with 59 Caddy tail fins. Offered me shares in Ct Dragway, $100 each, I was making $1/hr at gas station in Forestville, CT
    Paul in CT

  23. Don Gallant, of Newington, Connecticut p***ed away a few weeks ago. His shop is still open and is run by Don's son, Paul. Yes there is still a lot of old parts up in the mezzanine, but Paul is reluctant to dig them out.

If anyone remembers Deb’s Speed Shop, out of MA, I attached a pic of a 69 nova that I resurrected. Has a bit of a story. Any comments?
