Getting ready to paint my toronado air cleaner black. Which looks better on a gloss engine? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
just my .02, but after awhile the gloss engine paint will dull due to heat...so I'd paint the air cleaner semi-gloss so it will match later.
Good points. Paint is paint. Hard to combat heat and wear. Powder coat on the other hand....same finishes, three times the protection. If it gets a nice epoxy black spray, then a slow baked cure at 160 to 190 degrees for about an hour or three...let it dry thoroughly enough to be handled before baking....it is a great medium between spray bomb and powder . I like epoxy baked if powder coat ain't it. I go gloss on top, semi on bottoms. Your choice if the good hood is gonna' be open a lot.
Semi-gloss or satin, but not flat. In my opinion, high glossy is too...well...too glossy and looks kinda over-done. A softer satin finish is more tasteful...IMHO. This is the real-deal Caddy air cleaner on the Chevy motor in my '55 Buick Special. It's done in semi-gloss powder coat with striping by Ken Smith in Ft. Worth, Texas...Fly'n Kolorz here on the H.A.M.B.
Im gonna go against the grain and say gloss. It will match the sheen of the engine. If you used enamel on the engine the shine should last a long time if you keep it clean.
I have a repop Olds batwing air cleaner on my convertible, painted in basecoat clear coat. It is the color of the car with the very top portion painted the interior color. I have had it painted that way since I put it on the car and still looks good
Just had my air cleaner powder coated. I asked for semi gloss but when I went to pick it up it was gloss. I didnt like the look so I had him redo in the semi gloss and it looks alot better to me.
