So I have recently purchased a 1939 Chevrolet master deluxe, the car is solid and runs great. I have one major issue and need to redo the entire brake system. I am in California and looking to redo the brake system and having a hard time finding replacement parts I would like to stay as original as possible can anyone shoot me some leads I would highly appreciate it thanks.

Rock Auto sells shoes for the 1950 chevy car, they fit as far back as 37. I recently put some on a 37, they worked fine. The local parts store had new rubber cups for the wheel cylinders. You can get a master cylinder overhaul kit for a later model car that most of the parts will fit, from O Reilley.

    what else do you need?

Kanter in Ohio most likely has all that you need, and Chevs of the 40's in Wash might be able to take care of it also.

Yes sir,Kanter carries a huge inventory of original style parts.

This should point you in the right direction. HRP

  6. Not on my against Kanter bandwagon today, but NAPA is a good source for old chevy parts as well.

Napa is my normal go to source on any of my builds.

I did notice that when I was building the wagon NAPA lacked many of the front suspension parts I needed and was able to procure everything I needed in on place and that was a plus in that particular case. HRP

  8. I have discovered that the warehouse has parts that the store doesn't know about, like the S/W ( American) gauges that I used in the Pusher. I have a warehouse close here so if I don't find it in the store I go directly to the warehouse.

Nothing wrong with kantar parts by the way. They use BorgWarner suspension parts most of the time and you can't find a better quality part than BorgWarner.

  9. and what about "Chevys of the 40's" they also have stuff for the late 30's cars.

I found some 52, Bendix style, for my sons 50, but I don't know if they will fit back to 39. The replacement parts are cheaper and better brakes.
