I'm from sweden and looking for a 55. I e mailed the seller/dealer with questions and he just said "come check it out and drive it around" ! Hmmm....

I am a lot closer than Sweden, but still a 4 or so hour drive to get there. Wish I was closer and could help out. Maybe bumping back up will help.

If those rusty bumpers are original to the car, it may have underlying rust or rust issues that have been repaired in the past. Hopefully repaired correctly.
Look at the cowl tag to see where the car was built prior to getting to Texas.
It may have been built and resided in the North which could mean rust.
In fact, why not ask the seller to email you a digital pic of the cowl tag.

    Here's a link to cowl codes;

    A - Atlanta, GA L - Los Angeles, CA
    B - Baltimore, MD N - Norwood, OH
    F - Flint, MI O - Oakland, CA
    J - Janesville, WI S - St. Louis, MO
    K - Kansas City, MO T - Tarrytown, NY

Actully i helped a guy from Austin to find a 69 Volvo Amazon wagon here in sweden to ship home. I made some calls and e mailing and found a car for him. Another guy that lives close to the car went to have a look at it and the car will be shipped to Houston.

Not a beauty queen and definately not worth the asking price..... probably less than half of that.

    Here we go.....
It has a nasty $29.95 paint job on it..... yep, looks like Earl Schibe (google it) did this one. Loads of bondo in the rocker area. The front part of the right quarter panel has been replaced with a patch panel (one that does not mimick the wheel opening well at all but not unusual for patch panels). The inner wheelhouse was cut away behind the patch also.
Looking under the car... the inner rockers are rusted thru, but the floors looked pretty solid. I couldn't get access to the trunk so no idea what lurks there.
There are some things missing that may be tough to find (or maybe not since it is a tri5) like the flipper above the drivers window.... completely missing.
Interior..... dirty but would actually would be fine for a driver. Garnish mouldings etc need to be painted (they are dark green... original to the car. There is what appears to be orginal paint in the door jambs. Hopefully you can make out what I took the photos of. The last two are of the right quarter patch.

Chopper - If you have anywhere close to the asking price on that CL find, you can do better.

That's for sure, especially if your not afraid to look that far from home. I think most will agree, in this part of TX there's cleaner stuff for less $$$.
    Good luck with the search

Greybeard thanks ALOT !! Hope i can return the favor some day ! I can see from the pics that the little info i got from the e mail he sent that he was not telling the truth ! He said the car is RUST FREE other than some fibergl*** repairs in the trunk... Maybe he was talking about Another car ?! :) I guess i have to keep looking. I can find a 55 HT here in sweden but i could not afford to buy it ! I hope to find a decent car in TX cause i have a friend who ships out containers from Houston and he can help me with paperworks etc. Sad thing is that i have to ad about 3,500 - 4000 dollar to the price for transports shipping taxes registration and inspection here in sweden. But still if i'm lucky and no one ****s me up i can make a ok deal. Thanks again man i really apriciate the favor !!

Have seen quite a few others this guy claims as rust free or very little rust @ swap meets in Texas. Totally misrepresents his stuff.

Rikard, not meaning to distract from your 55 hunt but...

I'm not having much luck selling my Model A here in the US. Are there any European websites I might advertise on?

Him telling you about the fibergl*** repairs in the trunk should have been a giveaway.... that is NOT the way to fix a steel car.... only works on Corvettes and boats.... LOL

He never even came out of the shop to talk to me about it. I guess my work jacket scared him.... LOL

Dont know for sure what "give away" means but i guess it means that i should have understod that it was a ****py car ! :)
Bill i have seen your car on the hambs cl***ifieds for quite some time and wondered why its not sold yet. I like the car and would have been interested if i was looking for a model a hot rod. There are some web sites here in sweden for cl***ic cars that you could try on. But i think most of the guys looking for cars allready search your american sites including the hamb. Most cars that ends up here are bought in the us by dealers and shipped here and put up for sale. But it getting tuffer cause of higher import taxes and so. But of course you can allways try. www.cl***iccars.se and www.usabil.nu Have you tryed face book ? I know guys who sells their cars there.
