hey guys, so I'm heading to japan (from australia) for a snowboarding trip up to hakuba for 9 days, then was planning on going back to tokyo/yokohama for around 3 days, then down to nagoya for a few days to visit paradise road and arts body, then have a look at what else is around. Followed by heading down to osaka to do the normal tourist stuff (which i haven't planned yet haha)

any idea on some cool stuff to see? or any local guys on here maybe willing to show me around for a day?

    thanks
    sam

When I was in Japan back in the mid-80's, the Ueno district of Tokyo had a small area that was totally, insanely, about motorcycles. In this little section of Ueno there were dozens and dozens of stores selling anything motorcycle. I can't imagine it has faded away, but there could be other areas similar to it by now around Japan. Many of the stores there were owned by the same firms, and virtually anything you want is in stock. I found this area a great place to buy helmets, riding gear, bags, etc. as the big stores (Corin was king) had every size and color in stock to try on. When you finally picked-out your stuff, they brought out new in the box gear for you drawn from warehoused inventory. Too bad you can't get a top of the line Arai like I got for $250 like I did back then. And I got to see every color scheme and try on every size until I got one that fit perfect. I'd try Google or the TIC when you get to Tokyo, as this area was written about in all the travel guides. I don't have directions from the Ueno train station, but it shouldn't be too hard to find. Have fun, Gary

Or I could just go to Japan and snowboard the best powder in the world, and go to mooneyes shop, go to the robot and ninja restaurants, visit arts body and paradise road, go to universal studios and see all the awesome japanese history and culture! And eat sushi and the worlds best steaks and whiskey and beers haha

    Seriously though.... It's gonna rule!

I just got back from japan. Went to the Mooneyes show in Yokohama, Tokyo and Kyoto. Yokohama was the only place I saw anything hot rod related. I did see a '59 Impala cruising around Yokohama outside the show so they are around. Saw more exotics (Ferrari F430, Lamborghini etc) in Tokyo. We did see a couple mild Dekotora trucks near the fish market. Skip the sushi, it ****s even in Japan.

Australia rules too! Haha every man and his dog has a ute, they're an Aussie way of life, pretty much any tradesman has one for work. I don't know how people get by without one! Haha
