I do. After two + weeks of prep Randy Bolin shot my coupe with a custom tinted PPP DelFleet paint called Evolution. Not the cheapest paint but one that can tale a lot of abuse. Tomorrow morning Randy is going to shoot the firewall and the underside black. After Christmas he will come back and color sand and buff. So far as I can tell, there is no trash in the paint. Randy thinks static electricity in the plastic we used to section off a part of the shop and cover everything else attracted the dust. I have the fabrication finished. Great color. Delfleet is very good paint and is very cost effective that wears like Iron. Very close to Imron. Happy cruzin' VR&C.
Thanks for all the positives. Some time ago I had the frame powder coated "Electric Box Grey." Jeff, the overall manager and paint guru at our main O'Reilly's hand mixed the DelFleet to match. Got really close. This morning Randy painted the firewall and underside with DelFleet black. Oh, this brings up an interesting idea. What if one was to charge the plastic with static electricity on purpose, for just that reason? Maybe I'll set up a little test box and try this out. The paint work looks real nice, Bib.
Color Choice is Awesome !!! I worked on a 33 Plymouth Coupe years ago and the owner was impressed with the grey PPG primer. So impressed that he had the Coupe painted Dove Grey. The car drew a good bit of attention. You car is Looking Good............. Jeff
Looks sweet. Feels great when this point is reached. Will be watching your build with great interest. Friend of mine that shot the paint on my coupe swears by Delfleet. Does a lot of vintage English cars and says the appearance is very similar to original paint used in 50s and early 60s. Buffs up real nice. Stands up great. Canuck
I think there is plenty static in the plastic, but you can put a ground cable from your body to known ground; like a 8' copper rod in the ground near your service panel. That will stop alot of static from building when the the paint is pumped on. Nice work and selection of colors!
Your at a perfect point to checker board that firewall! Otherwise it looks great and maroon wheels gets my vote to.
