im really wanting to find some free hambers in the area or find a way to network for when we need an extra hand or advice. right now I need to work on getting the body off my 50 dodge but do not have the luxury of shop hoists or lifts like some... so I need some strong liqur'd up buddies willing to come and lift my pig off her frame.
I mean its nice to log onto here and search for any questions I can come up with but it would be awesome to have some real hot rod friends in a day where all the guys my age are into video games, comics, disc golf, or drinkin to ****py pop music. we're far and few between and its a magical thing when great hotrodders can collaborate.

thanks for the kind response I guess. I didn't realize there was a pecking order here. I'm not so much looking for help as I as i am trying to find find local guys wanting to hang out and bs about hotrods. I must have the wrong idea about these forum things. I was hesitant to join. maybe I'll try regular social media. I'm trying to network with like minds, get some "car" friends in the physical realm. Wrong place for me I guess. Thanks man

Don't be so quick to judge b-rock, give it a chance.
Introduce yourself to the social group "Northwest HAMBers" a lot of great folks, with years of experience to help you out, in your area.
Look up social forums on here, and join up.

  5. Hay b-Rock. Stick around a while, you'll be just fine here. There are lot's of Portland guys here and you'll find a way to fit in. Not everyone looks through the same window.

I appreciate that guys. I shouldn't shouldnt have mentioned needing to do something on my car I don't want free work done. I shouldve stayed on the point of networking. I have a bad taste in my mouth from car forums anymore. Its not just this. Its counterproductive for me i guess. Hahah I'll stick to bs'n at the parts counter and and calling my import/rice burner buddies for help.

The 'pecking' order thing is little more than hanging around and finding your niche. If you have skills and experience on one, or even ten, subjects then you get to offer that to the group and you won't appear to be some clod by asking for a freebie on your 4th post.
Networking? you betcha! Like you, most folks enjoy a bench racing session on occasion and that might lead to a beer and pizza work session.
Out of the 250,000 members on this forum there are plenty in the PDX metro so you have company. As mentioned, there are several 'social' groups you need to check out.
If you haven't looked at the link I posted it does offer suggestions for your dilemma.
