Down along the coast these cars and trucks rust out
Once rust starts they rot from the inside
Metals needs to be clean and protected

I get a little testy about cars and trucks , when you see them from the outside , they look fantastic, beautiful paint, Then they open the hood , Yuk!!!!
Car might run good , but lipstick on a pig.

So, you cleaned the mud dobber out of the inside, and primed and painted it? Seems to me your the guy that added the lipstick to the pig. It was merely original, with a mother nature addition, and you removed mother nature's addition, and put on the lipstick.

If you really want to see lipstick on a pig, come up here and I'll show you my junk. I prefer to call the process "buying time" before its gone forever. Gene

No thanks , I got some off that myself , takes a rake to gather it up, or I can wait a little longer and it returns to nature on its own.

I have been working on the 1930 dodge brother DA , I have include a few more pictures of why I mis-judge this car , it was suppose to be good restoration back 12 years ago.

But when , I took a closer look at seams and edges, I decided to disassemble

Well there was 70 year old mud between frame and cab,
Lucky it was in a dry state for most of it's life,
It has been in Louisiana for the last 12 years, don't know history of car prior to this.

No major rust , don't have to replace panels.
Just a lot of blasting, and cleaning , treated and painting
Thanks to DBracer out of California for having a rolling chassis,
It saved me a lot of work on chassis
Plus I got a lot of spares, engine, transmission, brakes and rearend. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1418435351.229349.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1418435396.178420.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1418435427.890506.jpg

Re : "Cruisn' to the Coast". I see one Jeep, one Camaro, two r** r***, two street rods, and one close to on-topic car. I sure hope that wasn't representative of the types of cars that were there! Nice work on Dodge, though.

    No it wasn't
I kind of gets to me , you can spend all a lot of time and money and be parked next to a rusty rod , The people swarm the rusty pile and hardly give your car a second look.

I respect there work they usually put in engine and getting car road ready. They are using parts that would normally be crushed .

    It is what it is!,,

That RR thing with all the shit hung on it makes my stomach queasy .....it's one thing to build a rusty car with no interior and sloppy worksmanship etc. if that's the best you can do,well your trying but hanging shit on just to be ignorant is like walking around with your pants down around your knees and your ass stickin out , my only consolation is people this stupid may get weeded out by natural selection........
