Havent had much luck searching the web, maybe someone here can direct me. Looking for 4 heim joints, female threaded end, 1/4 inch thread or something small like that. I've come across a few, but they all have the threaded stud at the swivel end, not a hole. Anyone know where to find such an animal?
have you checked with Speedway Motors? http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Searc...Sema_Part:Heim Joints*LA_Hole_Diameter:0.2500
http://www.mcmaster.com/#rod-ends/=v4utvj Mc Master Carr has almost anything you can think of hardware wise.
Yes, go with McMaster-Carr, on line catalog has sizes from 6-32 up to 2". They have male and female threads and an ***ortment of other styles.
Wow, now I feel stupid. Searched Speedway last night and was coming up with nothing. On the way now. Thanks!
You could also google surplus Heim joints. Often you can get surplus parts for pennies on the dollar. 2 minutes of search found these. http://www.ebay.com/itm/AIRCRAFT-AV...25-5158RE-8B724212-3-PRICE-UNIT-/301093475302 And another. Scroll 1/2 way down the page. https://www.surplussales.com/ShaftHardware/ShaftH-9.html I've used surplussales before. It's well worth the time to look through their catalog. They come up with all sorts of neat stuff.
I just bought several FK brand alloy rod ends from Speedway and they were JUNK. Way out of tolerance. The balls had at least .010 slop in the housings. I sent them back. Stick with genuine Heim's.
As Hnstray said, Aircraft Spruce is a great source for all kinds of stuff - get a catalog and you'll find lots of interesting stuff.
Aircraft Spruce for high quality stuff, but also high prices. McMaster-Carr for good stuff at good prices, and very fast shipping. Speedway for cheap stuff at cheap prices, and very fast shipping. Takes your choices.
after all these responses and choices given, i am now curious as to their indented use by the original poster......are they for some simple like a shift linkage on your lawn mower or something more serious like flight controls on an airplane? or something in between?
In between... Steering rod ends on a little project I have going. Obviously its nothing heavy duty at 1/4 inch, but I think I'll have it on the streets by spring.
