How much lower is my 29 ford gunna sit once I get my bbc in it I'm all tacked up at 5 inch ground clearence was thinking once bbc is in will sag a inch ???? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Hookes' Law: F=kx. k: spring constant (usually in.-lbs) F: Force (bbc weight) x: displacement (in.) Kelvin
I think your going down more than one inch. Along with ride height your going to have to look at the clearence between the spring and frame/axle.
Have a speedway drop axle speedway wish bones with rev eye spring spring behind axle set up frame is notched for spring it's set at 5 inch ground clearence afraid once motor goes in will be to low I could still lower crossmember (32fordstyle) to gain 1.5 inch or clearence not sure if will need it like to be about 4 inch give or take a little Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. Then after you get the motor in, you need to get the rest of the parts on the car, and drive it around a little so it settles, THEN you can try to get the ride height like you want it. Before then, you're wasting your time.
Yes but once the crossmember is welded in that's kind of it so would like to get close I'm hopeing so one can say I had 8 inch or clearence put body and motor then had 6 Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
On a regular spring over axle. Figure it will settle with 2-1/2" between the axle and spring at the center. It's always easier to go up on ride height a little bit that it is to come down.
I will also add that if I drop my aluminum BBC heads on my foot it will break and bleed alot. If I drop some cast iron heads on my feet I will die! How do you think a spring feels about this? "I need my mirror boy"
You want approx. 4 -5" of travel from full droop [wheels hanging] to ride height for a comfortable ride. If it only loads down 1" the spring is too stiff [ like a tuning fork ]
