The actual cam grinding - nope, but are you really wanting to know about how some of the guys advertising they do custom cams do it? (selecting the lobes from the master lobe catalog and having one ground from the 'big boys' and then advertising it as their own)

  3. (i am aware as to how most "custom" grinders work)

I was wondering if there are any guys on here who actually grind cams. - thanks

  6. i don't do it , but there is a place about 30 miles from me that does.they try to stay away from the SBC stuff and specialize in the oddball engines...and foreign cars/motorcycles. one of the last times i was there they were doing some cams for i think a yamaha snowmobile ( i guess snowmobiles are going 4-cycle) .but they have done some stuff for a couple of nascar teams. it is a very interesting place to visit

Jerry Washburn is "the guy that knows the guy" you could ask him if you want.
he brought it up when we were talking about how to soup up Guido's 3-port Oldsmobile engine.

  10. the cam masters you are looking for are Ed Winfields (not Gene). When Ed died I believe that his masters went to 2 places Bruce Crower and Iskederian.

I am currently using a custom ground cam by Crower (the old man himself), and it is still in the tuning stage (but so far it is great)

I have no experience with Isky.

I have worked on a few engines with cams don by Elgin, they dial in spot on with solid lifters. And they go like stink.

  12. sure. I like crower, but i am going to be doing another engine and wouldn't mind giving someone else a try.

Also, what have you done to your guys 3 port olds engine?
